1.05 broken positional tracking?

Head tracking seems to be working fine, but when I move sideways or forward, the whole picture moves with me instead of my pov moving through the game

Is your oculus camera showing the nice little blue light when you play the game?
Personally haven't had any issues since 1.05 so if there is one, it's not a generalized one.

I play in extended mode, haven't tried to use direct since it wouldn't detect my oculus back in gamma

I had this, until I realised I had to plug in the cable between the headset and the tracker on my monitor - i thought the cable was an audio cable, which is why I didn't connect it initially, however it introduces another issue for me. When connecting the cable, it looks like the amount of colours in game are reduced, until you lean very forward, it go back to normal.

The colours get reduced when you are out of range of the head track camera. That is why it looks slightly grey when the tracking is lost. In your case, just adjust the field of view. This can be done in the Oculus configuration utility.

The field of view setting does not change anything for the Rift.

It is a setting for people who use screens.

There is no FOV setting in the Rift config utility.

Setting your IPD to an artificial setting to create "more 3d effect" is why people get ill and feel sick. The IPD needs to be set correctly.

The Rift has a fixed field of view and the tracking cameras FOV cannot be changed either.

Use the Rifts demo scene with the table and card and show camera bounding box, and set the camera up so when in your playing position it is aimed directly at you. Positioning it further away makes the part of the cone you sit in much bigger. You can position it up to 2, almost 3 meters away and still be in its view range for positional tracking

I think by 'adjust field of view' he meant the oculus camera's field of view!

I've found what works if you can't get enough distance from your desk (my office is cramped to say the least) to get a good wide angle on the IR camera, try putting it above, pointing down. I've put mine on a shelf about a meter higher than the top of my monitor, as a result I get way better range for leaning / moving before hitting the camera bounds.
