1.3.05 all red down arrow on ALL major factions and related subfactions!

Of course it will drop. That's what you get for having a life outside of this game, everybody who dares to do that clearly needs to be punished.
(Sorry, but sarcasm is the very only way i can handle this stupid decission to punish players for having a life. )

Well the rank (i.e. "Admiral") cannot be lost, at least. Reputation will decay, and it appears to do so about every hour, regardless whether one is playing or not. And according to one report above, the decay is pretty massive, requiring multiple mission, probably, per day to offset the effects.

ok, I was looking through the forum for rep decay because it just so happen to coincide with me doing some hunting on Archon Delaney npc's, and after a few kills my rep with all major factions started to decay. I thought it was due to me killing completely unrelated npc's. Still sucks though, with all the time I have spent gaining allied rep with all major factions.

Well I can't even GAIN the rank since Imperial Rank missions are bugged.

I have a better idea: make it like dota: everytime you log in, you start with a SideWinder ;)

No - FD: You misunderstood it completely: A game needs motivation, not more frustration to keep the people playing.

Hang on a minute!
I am gaining rep with the ones I am fighting!
Look at this: The systems I am allied with and I am not doing anything wrong to my rep is dropping, and the ones I am actually hunting locally - and am wanted with because of it - give me positive rep?
Please explain this to me...

rep gain with enemies.jpg

Edit: it is not consistent though; I logged out and in again, and now I have done several kills with no apparent change on the major powers' rep. But locally, I seem to keep gaining rep with the ones I have wanted status with. Is it just me, being dumb as a box of rocks..?

This seems to be a silly dynamic they added, but on the other hand if my faction rep drops down to Friendly, I may be able to do enough missions to trigger a naval ascension opportunity. I'm current Allied all over the Empire and stuck at Baron because of other silly dynamic.

So, for me, it might end up okay.... sort of like multiplying 2 negatives to get a positive.

Yep...but before to impement this silly rank decay feature FD should have fixed The broken naval ascension system.

Missions regard the higher of the two. If you are allied with the Federation, for example, you will be offered the missions requiring allied status from all its minor factions.

Now, I hopped into the game and I must say, I still have no idea how much it decays per downwards tick, but the ticks appear just too often. In less than 2 hours of playing I have seen the downward tick twice already. Depending on what you do, red arrow down will be a constant irritating sight. It is entirely possible that these frequent ticks are so small that a single mission could offset the effect from days of decay (optimistically speaking), but when you are out exploring, for example, or just in the space of a different major faction, you will see red arrows all the time.

Edit: Just had a 3rd tick down. It seems they occur every hour.

Did they not say decay only happens when we are offline? This is probably not working as intended.
I have seen red arrows all the time while ACTIVELY doing missions for those factions.

Yup I have been out in deep space doing the 4 week explore community goal (2 weeks left) and my allied status has been ticking down whilst online.

It makes exploring a joke as do I sell the data to get my rep back up or do I hand it in for the community goal?

It is a very good job I just got back from a 2 week run around the Galaxy with a visit to Sagittarius A* as now I will not be going that far out again, I will be staying a lot closer to occupied space.

What is the problem with reputation decay? Why are people against maintaining relationships with their favoured factions? Why shouldn't your relationship tend toward neutral if you don't maintain it? To make a (silly-ish) comparison, it's like returning to the town where you used to work 20 years ago and expecting to be treated the same as you were then, when in fact most people are saying "Who's this guy? Anyone know him? No? Well we'll just treat him like any other stranger"

Keep in mind that the in-game time is synchronized with outside the game. It makes sense if they forget who you are when you log back in 20 years later, but not 10 minutes after you just finished several high impact missions for them.

Well indeed that would seem to be a bug, or at least a requirement for some severe balancing work. But I see plenty of people calling for a total repeal of "this crappy mechanic"... it's like...

.. blah blah.. 1" inch deep.... grind....bored...nothing to do...card game... board game ... spreadsheet....

Then the minute FDev add some much needed dynamism to your activities it's all like...

It boils my p#@!

I'm out exploring, and also noticed the red arrows by all major faction rep. I've been gone about 36 hours. I never realized that those major factions were so needy for my presence. :)

FD does an update and it's broken? Tell me it ain't so....

Seriously, they really, REALLY need to do the beta testing in the beta server, not live! What is that beta server for if they always go live with half of the features broken. I lose hard earned independent faction rep (friendly with all of them instead of allied), I lose major faction rep when online (The idea is stupid, but they said it was offline only, hahaha), I can overwrite explorer's 1st discovery (not fixed)... Probably I can't rank up too...

you all hate me, don't you :(

i'm not sure if this is a bug, or part of the reputation loss mechanics for PP... perhaps one of you will know for sure

i have ships scattered about the place and i just went to visit one in Shanteneri, in Aisling's territory. when i got there i noticed every single major and minor faction on the rep panel had a red downward arrow next to it - all of them, even Fed and Alliance.

i hadn't shot anybody, or sold anything, or handed in any data or bounties, nothing - i just loaded up the game, got in my explorer ship and made the journey. (but i did get a few 'matchmaking error' disconnections along the way)

has anyone else had this before, is this normal?

** btw i'm not pledged to any power yet, so i don't think that's a factor.

Welcome to 1.3.05, beware of bugs...

Yes, every single rep goes down (by a lot) with an hourly tick. I don't know if it is normal, but it sure is not "offline only" as they stated.... They borked reps in 1.3 and it has gotten worse now...

damn. oh well, thanks for the bad news.

so it works the other way too, yes? - anybody i'm hostile with should get a blue arrow until they eventually reach Neutral status?
