Yes, all Live Servers need to be taken down for this update. The Xbox client update will be available for download from 11:00am UTC (10:00am BST) and is expected to be around 8.5GB. You'll need to wait until the Servers are back online before you'll be able to connect.

Yes and no IMO. 2.1 is basically a huge polish pass on everything, but without everything that came with 2.0 (or before) this update wouldn't feel nearly as significant. Polish goes a long way though! :)

At first I was a little upset the servers were down because I JUST bought a new ship I've been saving for for almost 2 months now, then I saw the update was 2.1 and that cooled my jets pretty quick. Sad I probably wont get to play tonight, but super excited for this.

Excellent news! I've been taking a break from ED H for a bit now, so I don't get burned out, but just when I think I'm out, you pull me back in!

Hey Zac,

Any info on WHEN Steam users will be able to start downloading the 2.1 client update? This will be my first update since purchasing 2.0 back in March so no past experience with how a Steam/ED update download works.

Wondering if I can leave my PC running over night and if Steam will start the download automatically? I have not been able to find anything on my Steam account page pertaining to auto-updates like I have over on Xbox Live and my Xbox One.

Thought it would make sense to download the updated client over night to save myself some time. I just got booted off the game a short while ago without warning. Had expected some kind of message pop-up like the weekly maintenance downtime messages, but I just got bumped and couldn't log back in. Now I am getting a message explaining what is going on.
