10 Mbps Requirement?

IGNORE IGNORE IGNORE IGNORE IGNORE IGNORE IGNORE IGNORE IGNORE-----
I live within 10 miles of Downtown LA in California, US. The fastest internet connection available within a several mile radius of where I live is a 3 Mbps provided by Verizon. No other carrier options are available because of anti-consumer dealings with other internet providers (by agreeing on "turfs" where they have decided not to compete).

Just five minutes ago I read Newsletter #50 to find that the minimum internet connection for single player mode is 10 Mbps.

"We have also ensured that the solo play mode has a minimal network requirement(about 10 kbps)."

I currently have "steel wool" butterflies in my stomach. For so long I was looking forward to this game, a game I have now learned my friends and I cannot play. I don't know whether to wait and hope that this requirement is lowered or to ask for a refund. I'm in limbo :(

Edit: Furthermore, the 10 Mbps should be shown in the requirements, not just "internet connection".

EDIT: CAN'T BELIEVE I SCREWED THAT UP!!! FALSE ALARM!!! SOMEHOW SCREWED UP Mbps WITH Kbps!!!

It's kbps, not Mbps. 10 kbps is about as much as data traffic with the mobile GSM standard from 20 years ago.

You think that we get consistent 10Mbps mobile links on UK trains? (Methinks you are a bit quick to jump to conclusions)

I wouldn't worry too much about the 10Mbps. My connection is rubbish as well, currently around the 3-5Mbps depending on the time of day, and the game works fine, at least for me

Dude, the quote in your own post states 10Kbps! Relax!

I was gonna say, I am in Afghanistan playing solo on a 10-20kbps connection that sucks beyond belief and I can usually play with no problem. :)

Note that for proper open play, you need WAY more than 100 KB/s (~1Mb/s) upstream unless FD go ahead and finally fix their networking.

Solo play causes close to no traffic really. You can see the current use by pressing Ctrl+F.

omg 10kbps?? I play on a 56k modem currently, it's the only option I have does this mean I'll have to leave AOL dial up to play????

It's hardly making fun of them, it's just joke around the tech, the lack of humour here surprises me sometimes, you can't be lighthearted it seems.
