That's a different issue - you need to clear the previous files and redownload.

Michael

Michael,

May I request that a "Force Clear .part/.progress files" option (worded more kindly I expect) be added to the Options menu of the launcher in a future update, so that this can be done by anyone via a simple click, without rummaging about in folders?

(This solution fixed the problem for me, by the way - thanks :))

Yep, updated succesfully now, did the below:

Deleted temp internet files as per https://support.frontier.co.uk/kb/faq.php?id=283
Deleted .part and .progress files as per https://support.frontier.co.uk/kb/faq.php?id=283 (these were both for the EliteDangerous64.exe).
Deleted the actual EliteDangerous64.exe
Started the client, using normal download method (not alternate)

It started slowly for the first minute then sped up to super quick speeds (for me!) of ~120 MB/s and finished in about 3 mins ... and this is on a rubish rural internet connection :)

Enjoy.

That worked for me!
Good luck to all, cmdrs...

I got my download sorted now.

Thanks for all the help! What I did was the following:

1) Exit launcher
2) Searched for all .part and .progress files and deleted them
3) Restarted Launcher and hit Upgrade.

i started the download as it was announced and it took me about 20 minutes from the latest beta. i thought this was remarkable and unprecedented!

I've tried every permutation of every 'fix' posted and still it won't bloody patch. The progress bar gets all the way to the end and then it just throws up the "Failed to read from response stream. Network connection closed." error.

I deleted the part file, the progress file AND the .exe file.

I ran the installer and after completion with a failed to read etc I was left with a new .exe file at 37680 kb

I ran this file and all seemed well until I was told it was the OLD VERSION.

Is the launcher installing the wrong version?

Try clearing Windows' cached download files:
In some cases you may need to clear the cached files for Microsoft .Net:

  • Go to the start menu and type 'Internet Options'
  • Open the Internet Options dialogue
  • On the General tab, under Browsing History, click Delete...
  • Tick 'Temporary Internet files and website files' and 'Cookies and website data'
  • Click Delete

I had that as well... this is what I did and it solved the problem...

1) Close the launcher
2) Find the .part and .progress files in the games folder and delete them (https://support.frontier.co.uk/kb/faq.php?id=283)
3) Open the launcher and try again

Hope that helps?

This worked for me - thank you

After 2 days I finally ended up using a totally different pc to download the update then maunally moved the files to this pc. I think it's now a Windows 10 issue since I used a pc that still has Windows 8.1 on it to do so. I still don't know what my issues actually is or if this work around even fixed the issue. I hope it did but I dunno
