11 day download after update

Download/upgrade issues using the Launcher have been consistently bad since the latest release, and occur regardless of whether you use the alternative download method. It's an issue that does not occur with Steam's download for Elite Dangerous. Whatever you're using in terms of a CDN, isn't performing or servicing to any standard that would be thought of as reasonable.

Issues here too.

Normal method does nothing except increase the number of days it will take (335!)

Alternative method looks ok until the timer gets to <1 min, at which point it fails or goes back up to 2-3 hours and then fails.

i've cleared .part and .progress, tried my other account, but no joy.

First time I've ever had a problem loading an update.

Yeah i see the steam users play the game on twitch etc. I dont want to use this game on steam cause they will take a cut of all the store sales in this game from fdev ,steam gets enugh money from me with other games hehe

So I had the issue of it sitting at the last moment for ages, cancelled the download and the game had actually updated. Might be worth a try.

I can't even cancel the upgrade via the X button next to the progress bar. It just goes inert.

Added: After a minute or two I get this message basically saying 'can't read responding stream. closing network connection'.

I get "Failed to read from response stream. Network connection closed."

It seems to happen at the very last bit looking at the progressbar.

It's a quite weird behavior.

- normal download takes ages, as for others here in this thread.
- alternative download worked fine for me until recently (= all 2.2 downloads). Now I get the sync error, too.
- deleting the files and trying it again with alternative dl doesn't help.
- however, after first using alternative dl, then deleting the files and after that using standard dl works for me.

So, it works. Somehow. But it is really far from optimal.

I even considered to switch to Steam, but honestly I want to keep the FD downloader, as I want to support FD.
I really hope, you get this sorted, guys!

Edit: during the process, I even deactivated the Windows Defender, as I remembered the current problems with Civilization 6. However, I don't know, whether or not this had an impact on my download speed.

Could this all be also an issue with Windows 10 and its "virus" protection?
