Wow, it seems both only a short time ago and ages since I posted my first couple of comments on the fledgling Elite Dangerous Kickstarter campaign! Its been a fantastic journey so far.
Congratulations guys!

It's a shame that there is no pre-download. I'm off to work and won't be home until after 8, so by the time I download and start to play, I will have already lost the a day on others, as well as the experience the Gamma testers already have.

Purposefully avoided beta and gamma downloads, as I wanted to experience the play with the finished game, just like I did on the BBC 30 years ago.

Should have allowed the game to be downloaded and installed, with a small patch download at launch to allow the game to start

Have kept tabs on this one living vicariously through some alpha backers, and bought the Merc edition a month back.... have held out of the Beta stuff, waiting for the full release.
Booked holidays around it.
Bought a Saitek X52.
Got my skills up to scratch in the combat sim, and got my DK2 due in the post tomorrow according to tracking info....

The world seems a pretty sweeeet place right now..... I've been waiting for this moment for 30 years, I can hardly imagine how Braben feels.....

Take it slow with the Rift. Even if you've used the first devkit, it's still something you definitely want to ease into. I've heard of VR-sickness lasting over 24 hours after a relatively short session.

The Eagle is stored at a specified location away from your initial spawn point.

As for wipes, I don't know. I've read separate dev posts that seem to confirm and deny whether or not there will be a wipe. It seems that common opinion is that there wont be a wipe, but we'll see.
