15 ships have no variants. Which deserves the next one?

Give us a ship above the federal corvette with 2 huge, 3 large, 2 medium, 2 small. Same maneuverability. Unlockable at final rank.

Not a combat expert (yes my rank is Expert but... nevermind...) but I've always wondered about the reason of small hardpoints on big combat ships. What weapon do you install there?

Imperial Python.
You know you want it.

I think half the forum let out an involuntary moan of pleasure at that one.

The question would be, what role? Imperial vibe is usually speed, style, shields and versatility.

So I'm guessing downgrading the hardpoints and/or PD with lower hull strength and condensed internal components in exchange for more straight-line speed, stronger shields, marginally larger overall cargo capacity and a 5th utility slot?

It would be cool to see a properly chunky Medium shield tank that has less offensive ability in exchange for easier escapes and more haulage capacity

Hmmm. Hadn’t thought of an Imperial Python. Python, Lexus edition. That would actually make me want to start grinding imperial ranks :p

An Anaconda that doesn't look like it fell in the exploration role by accident. So big ship with big jump, but also nice canopy (decent supercruise capabilities would be nice too, but not really needed anymore with the turret-like FSS), and maybe a really harmless look and weapons like a freighter.

They addressed that when they unlocked the passenger ships slots I'd say. My Exploration fitted Orca now jumps about 63LY with everything I need on board and definitely looks better than the Anaconda. OK the 'conda does 75LY but the Orca's range is long enough to get virtually anywhere and is still about double the range most of us used to have on our Asps back in the day.

I don't have a cast iron argument against a new exploration ship, especially one dedicated to the role but jump range isn't everything and isn't really even the most important thing for exploration, other than edge cases like going far out along the galactic arms where the stars are extremely sparse.
