1701-D goes exploring, ED Style

Yes.. This is something of a frustration.

Be quite nice if the detailed surface scanner could at least pick up features on the scale of ancient ruins and highlight these. This isn't specifically necessary for the ruins right now but for similar sorts of things in the future that would be nice..
Some even more detailed scan mechanic might be nice. I have visions of some sort of segment planet map which you can fill in by flying over the planet in orbital cruise, fill in all the segments for greater exploratory reward and the ability to detect smaller persistent features which can be highlighted to go down to (such as Barnacles - I'm frankly amazed anyone was able to find these at all).

well, actually, they would make a shuttle surface speed run and do that job in 1 year 2 month and 5 seconds.

the worst is they can even give you the planeteary composition but no even detect larger structures. And mini planets aka asteroids seem to have no surfcae, otherwise it would be able to scan them too. So many mechanis in ED are logic, fictional and even lorewise just kinda superbroken, that the only way to handle them is actually a HUGE amount of sarcasm and parody.

I agree. When I first visited the barnicles I took about 30 mins to find them and I knew that they were there and roughly where they were!

Quite. I had the same problem looking for Barnacles.
From the news reports I knew which system and which planet to go to.
When I got there I first said, right, lets play this 'in game' I know from the news where they are roughly but I still have to track them down.
After an hour or two of flying over the surface and popping down to investigate interesting features I gave up and looked up coordinates online.
Even with those coordinates they were sufficiently small that they were easy to miss - the wave scanner helped but crikey, how anyone spotted one in the first place is beyond me. That must have been super lucky.

I'm landing my Python on a 1G planet on the left monitor while trying to read this on the right one. Hope I don't crash laughing so hard! I can even hear the actor's voices saying the dialog! Comedy is so much more funnier (and painful) when it is back up by the truth. Well done!!

Picard: "Prepare to leave orbit. Ensign Ro, confirm that our course is restricted to scoop-able stars only."

What I want to know is how all these people - Picard, Riker, Data, LaForge, Ro, Crusher, Troi, Worf - got onto the bridge at the same time when multi-crew will only allow at most 3? It must be very crowded in the turbolift ;)

Don't forget, poor Worf has to stand at the back, and LaForge, if not in his engine room, has to stand next to a computer console - at the back. Riker never sits down. Crusher only comes onto the bridge if there's something REALLY important happening, and Troi only really appears if something needs sensing. That just leaves Picard, Data and Ro - and they always sit down. The Cutter Bridge could easily accommodate them all :D

While your explanation may be correct, I think someone on Beta needs to check whether multi-crew allows 3 people sitting and an indefinite number of people standing awkwardly in the background ... well, strictly speaking, floating awkwardly in the background since the 1701-ED won't have gravity plating ;)
