1st Alien Encounter on Distant Worlds

So far no Anaconda sound, but the sound is definitely NOT the same as anywhere else I have landed. Lots of background static now. Maybe it's evolving? So many ships around I had to go open to get a quiet sample.

I wish I'd recorded the sound when I was landed 850LY from NGC6357, but I assure you, it was exactly the sound in the videos. To the extent that, when I played the videos while still in game, I couldn't really tell when the vid stopped and the in game sound took over. I'm sure it's because I was landed and pointed at the LMC. In the vid, it's impossible to tell what the ship is pointing towards because of the dust / mist unfortunately.

Thank you for making this thread, and the reddit page!

I hope other people can confirm if it's a new sound or not, I've never really paid attention to the noises but this one really grabbed my attention as soon as my engines turned off. A few people have told me that it's the default sound of an Anaconda but I've not noticed anything like this before and I don't see why Anaconda's would sound like they have animals in their cargo heh. To add to this, the only other CMDR in game who could hear it was flying an Asp, not an Anaconda.

I've already said this on a few other threads but I can confirm that I've never had contact with unknown artifacts, barnacles or meta-alloys. I checked and there's no cargo on my ship other than materials for repairing my SRV, and I couldn't find anything while driving in the SRV (also the sounds are only heard while sitting in the ship).

I look forward to finding out more info, send in your recordings too!

Get them to land pointed at the LMC, or even any significant galactic body (like a nebula etc) or the galactic core and see what they hear. I'm sure they'll here the growling

Someone on reddit suggested that these are Anaconda sounds. Well that's not it :). Maybe the sounds are sector specific? I.e. not coming from the planet, but over some kind of comms. In any case, I don't think they are part of any background noise. I have had all the ambient mood music turned off for weeks, just sound effects active, and the only noise I've heard in my ship is the engine.

Another possibility is that once you get the noises you carry them with you, probably not but if it was in fact coming from inside the ship... that would make sense. :p But that's just a theory, it could be nothing! I think I'll lock the door to my cockpit all the same...

The bedside lamp tells me not to worry :p

There are indeed noises coming from inside my asp now. I can hear them in my SRV but only if I drive within 43 meters of the ship. Otherwise it's just normal noise. It's weird, sometimes I hear the noise in my ship and sometimes I don't. But I have tested a few planets on the way to WP5 and I haven't heard anything like this before. It's different than your Anaconda noise. Mine is more of a buzzing static with birds chirping in the background. It's not my speakers either because I can make it go away by changing the distance from my Asp. I also make it appear by logging out and logging back in while landed on the surface of the waypoint planet.

Static Heard from SRV

I start off below the Asp and then steadily back away until I am 55m away at time=0:50. At this point the static goes away completely, and then then picks up again as I head back toward the ship.

Here is the SRV when it is 200m from the ship

This sounds very similar to how the SRV sounds on any planet

And finally for comparison, here is the Cockpit sound of the Asp from a similar HMCP planet, also orbiting a B star.

The herring assures me it only lies to you, never to me.

Now you have an imaginary connection to my pet herring from light years way! I would suggest a comfy zero G couch and having a chat with the kettle. It's qualified, so don't worry (disclaimer : I'm not sure what it's qualified in, but it certainly seems to help) :p

I'm not sure that there's an easy way to break this to you - the herring is here. The imaginary connection is yours.

(We should probably think about stopping this now before we drive everyone else mad...)

Wait, what now? *eyes suspiciously low bottle of Jack Daniels*. That damn herring has been drinking my JD!
(I agree, hehehe)

Strange noises at the way point. That sound vaguely like the crackle of a cockpit menu screen when selected. I can also hear them in my SRV but only if I drive within 43 meters of the ship. I get sounds even in a SRV without the ship on planet. It harder to hear but it does have sounds like the chappy wave from UA at times either I'm going crazy. Still on twitch.

EDIT : Just listened to Ziljan's SRV away from ship sounds and its the same thing I hear so I guess its the planet.

Meh, we're probably chasing shadows here. Or shadows of bugs. LOL. But it's worth investigating all the same. Who knows? I did hear some specific patterns of beeps at waypoint 5 that I hadn't heard on any planet yet. Going to run them buy Canonns audio team :)

I've listened to the records in this thread. It seems it's static noise, if from anaconda cockpit it has some reverberation. Now since every sound that comes from INSIDE the anaconda has some reverberation, and also given the fact it's reported that they vanish if you SRV away, that static must come from your ship. Something natural or not interferes with some ship component.

Unfortunatly i didn't hear them myself, still waiting

ALSO, it might be just me, but G on the planet seems strange. I've landed hyndred of times on every G from 0.05 to 6.76. Also recently I've landed on 2 or 3 g worlds during the expedition.
To me it seems that the planets pulls way more than the 1.06g displayed in the hud. Since I ALWAYS use the same procedure I noticed a difference. In my opinion it pulled more similarly to a 3g planet.

In this very moment several ASPs are taking hull dmg very close to me...

Just a personal feeling?
