1v1, 2v2, 3v3 Battle arena

I would like if there was an option to have a 1v1 pure dog fighting option in the game.

Players can be match through the ranking system or choose to fight un-ranked matches against friends and such.

Players can use ships that have been purchased in game, and outfitted in game.

At least have some option for combat until the game has been more developed.

Don't care about unbalanced ships at the moment, I'd just like the ability to have raw fun with some of my mates, beating the crap out of each other in our ships.

I don't see why this couldn't be implemented like the combat training scenarios.

Choose a mode at login, pick a ship and a loadout like back in Alpha - the Surgeon :) choose an area - star, asteroids, black hole etc, and match type.

Wouldn't take too long to set up and could be a lot of fun, as long as it's entirely separate from Elite itself. Maybe have a leaderboard, the pew-pew crew would love it!

The beauty of this Elite is that you could figure out ways to let every style of gamer find fun.
I personally don't like lobby based MP deathmath just for the sake of shooting. I prefer objectives, missions and context.
All that needs to happen in Elite is to designate systems in open war. Give opposing sides star ports at planets orbiting on opposite sides of the star. Then just populated the system with random combat zones that change places once winners are declared. So find a system at war, choose a side and dock, confirm allegiance to that side or be attacked, super cruise to combat zone, fight other players until someone wins, super cruise to next, maybe this time at an asteroid belt, fight, move to next, fight, (just like a shooter) have a large meta score last until one side wins. The make a new war somewhere else.

That's what I thought of when I saw this too. I've always been dead against the idea of adding PvP mechanics that have no place in a simulated universe... but an extra option in tutorials that allows you to chose a ship from those owned by your commander, a location and then play a multiplayer combat tutorial that has no effect in the open server... well I don't see why not.

That's what I mean, something simple straight forward....you know a friend come over to the house and you wanna have a bit a fun in elite. Combat is elites best but under used feature.

I'm sure you could come up with a bit more of a constructive discussion than just two words....;)

I'm simply voicing my lack of interest in the idea. I want the designers to work on more content in the actual game rather than spending their time on some pvp mode I have no interest in.

This is the superior idea.

So elite developers thought it was a good idea in the end and developed my initial idea into CQC, Nice implementation too. Well done Elite
