2.1 Discussion on AI weapon spam "rate of fire" bug

Yep that's how I died as well when I came back to the game after the update. I got to a low rez site and within seconds I saw some 6 NPC ships surrounding me, I saw a message about some plasma something (don't remember exactly the wording now) and next thing I see is the rebuy button. I literally didn't have time to react. First I thought the NPCs were too hard, but upon seeing some videos, is exactly what I experienced as well.

Was doing HiRes zones with a friend in a wing yesterday and saw a System Security Eagle with this bug. It was actually hard to get shots onto pirates, since it was killing them so fast.

It looked hilarious and glorious, to be fair.

Holy flurking schnitt! I've not had a chance to try 2.1 final but I sure as hell don't recall seeing this in any of the betas. How does something like that accidentally sneak into the code at the last second? Or was it a developer hoping to bag some juicy Bank Holiday overtime by making the forums erupt with salt like an explosion in a Saxa warehouse? ;)

It's really unfortunate, because it's muddying the waters when it comes to reactions to the new AI, which many of us already knew would produce a plethora of nerf requests. The new AI is tougher, but mostly contextually appropriate. But this? This is just nuts.

But. But. But. As per SJA and some other players, the victim in said video should... *evil grin* "git Gud"

SJA pointed out errors player made. If weaponry wasn't OP, he would have died, just slower.
No he wouldn't of that is just silly. I'm assuming this is in reference to the python vs vulture video.

1. Pips to systems only matters when your reservoir is taxed or under constant direct fire.

2. The vultures shields were down and hull at 47%.

3. He was in a wing.

It's clearly a bug ... Frontier have been alerted to it .. and ?

What are you hoping to achieve by this thread ?

Perhaps to warn other players of the bug before they are faced with a 30 million rebuy at no fault of their own.

I say keep the thread up, warn everyone you can, and either fly small ships or take a short break from ED until it's resolved.

The Bug report thread was threatening to get spammed by more of ^^^^^^ that

Which isn't all helpful sadly. At least here those that must, can vent.

That at least would have been a learning experience though.

I didn't see the tweet or the video, but you can turn around a fight when you realise that your tactics are not working. But not if their weaponry is overpowered.

That is exactly what I've been thinking. I'm pretty confident that if this happened in beta someone, somewhere would have said something.

There is a lot of code in beta that doesn't get pushed through to live, like fish for the engineer components.

Moving forward it might be an idea for the final phase of beta to be as close to, if not exactly the same as, the code that goes to live so the code can be thoroughly tested.

She deleted tweet because it is not first time her words is used against her by some childish players. She wanted to avoid controversy. I saw that comment. It was right on nose. Player did fail there, with or without bug. Or we are in "all players should be treated as spoiled kids" territory now. If that's so, I really hope you all will leave really soon.

I'm a 2 week old player...been on these forums all weekend trying to make some sense out of what you lot have done to this game. I've seen a great many deplorable attitudes and have come to the conclusion that this is most certainly not the community my friends had told me about...and this post right here just about sums up why I probably won't spend much more time here. Elitist, snobbish and utterly selfish.

On topic...this bug or whatever it is is punishing the experienced players and many of you guys who have hundred of millions of creds are saying the game is near unplayable. For someone with about 42k left and being ed constantly every time I so much as poke my nose out, this game is completely unplayable...no ifs no buts, game over and at this point, just coming to the forums to check and see is becoming more of a chore...I haven't played since saturday and don't see that changing anytime soon if the sheer toxicity on these forums are anything to go by.

Although, that is an unfair assumption to tar so many others who have literally bent over backwards to help others...I've had many messages all offering help and maybe a few wee handouts to get going with. But posts like this one will give you all a bad name...the "git gud or git out" runs strong in this one...a hardcore game for hardcore players only and the rest can just hand over their money to play the game their way, only to be told to get lost 2 weeks down the line.

And yet others tell me to play in open because of all the friendly players I'll come across...uh huh ^^

Phrasing things like that may be why you're not getting a good response. People are very willing to be helpful - for every one ganker there's a swathe of decent and friendly cmdrs - but you gotta be a little less confrontational (arguably like like AI!)

This is a bug - the rest you can learn your way around and people would love to help. Just give them a little bit of a chance, and learn which ones are just on the wind up so you can filter them out and not end up ignoring the helpful people who don't word it super-soft too

I'd hang around here, read others' posts, and reserve judgement a little while longer before calling Pecisk a 'git gud' community member, really.

He's not saying that it's the player's fault that he died in that video, just that the player did make a tactical mistake, independently of the plasma spam bug that probably killed them (you can see a purple light on the console just before his ship explodes, so they probably were taking plasma fire). Pecisk thinks Sarah took down her tweet to avoid being misrepresented as 'git gud', which you are now doing to him.

There's already another thread about it.

In fact several

Where I did say "git gud"? I said player made mistakes. SJA pointed them out. Since when it is something bad? I pointed out that being so upset about being pointed out mistakes is childish. I wonder why you take this personal, because nowhere I said that you are wrong about the way you feel. I commented specific case.

Can you please tell me what is the point of pointing out player error when he gets killed by a weapon bug? Other than to have a laugh? Do you see the point?

She MISSED or INTENTIONALLY AVOIDED the cause of player death. Both cases being either silly or insulting considering who she is and how long we waited to get HER back on the project, and how much love she had for her previous work.

You seem to be blind to the case of "whoooosh" she made with that comment to a level I never experienced.

On top of that, people know that it is most likely not her coding error - but one that wrecks HER JOB RESULT. At least she could seem bothered. Nobody saying it is her fault, so you can safely stop defending her and turn all other Elite players into some childish tantrum throwing monsters - when you yourself clearly miss the main issue here and you are attacking anyone that felt her comment was unnecessary and odd at best.

And on top of that you don't seem to remember she's not a random youtuber. She's someone that get's paid from our money. Do you know what happens to employees that openly ridicule or dismiss customer issues publicly (even if that is their private tweet), when they are one of the main the faces of the company?

And you know what else she ignored on the "Multi PA" video? If NPCs don't cheat with capacitor - how he was able to shoot so many times? Also didn't bothered her. If something makes me look like I said something disproved by a video - I would care.

Seconded.
This should even require some emergency actions like temporary disable npcs mods until they get the root of the problem.

This is serious, there's no way a vulture should be able to take down a python in LESS than 2 seconds, even if it was shieldless.
That might happen with 2 huge hardpoints, but if it happens with two large is either a major bug or a major design flaw.

This has happened to me now three times.

My A-class Asp has been instakilled by an Eagle, a Diamondback Scout, and I didn't even see the last one cos i ctrl-alt-dlt'd out of there, but too late.

Game-breaking error, either it's a bug or bad AI. But it's gotta be fixed. Anyone arguing this isn't an issue clearly hasn't been affected by it YET
