If you want air combat IL2 1946 or Falcon4 BMS 4.33 not Elite...
As for Air Combat in Elite from what I see just flying around space against other CMDR. their piloting skill are poor at best. I'm not sure if it the flight modes or just poor programing or that most of the sim-pilot in this game just suck - hey when I started in flight sims I as really bad but I learned been do this for 35 years still learning stuff. What is the difference between a Sidewinder & a Eagle can you show me on a chart, like her roll deg. per sec. or pitch or yaw. Is there recoil from the gun weapons.
I have a lot of questions, but Frontier Developments Plc. has no answers. So I have drop the game from my main computer, too be revisited on updates as they come out too see if they have improved the game any.
As one who play IL-2, DCS and prepar3d SIM I think you're a bit off the track here. First there are no air in Elite yet, so no drag or lift, secondly the ships are supposed to be in the year 3200. Thirdly its not a flight SIM, its a space SIM different ball game. What FD is trying to do is to balance the SIM part with the game part. So the flight model is made to be like air planes to avoid turret type of gameplay you see in other space games.
So there will be elements of flight sims in Elite, but it will never be a full blown flight SIM because we don't know what to SIMULATE from the year 3200.
There are a huge difference from ship to ship, I can't show you a chart, because I frankly don't care, you test and you find what you like. I like the iCourier because it suits my style of "flying".
So if you're looking for a game that Simulates combat in space, I would suggest rogue system as this is as close you can get to DCS in Space.
