Pilots are just glorified auto pilots? What pilots are we talking about? Real commanders or NPCs?
I'm bumping this. It scares me to know I could lose my NPC crew member! Can some mechanic be put into the game where an NPC crew member doesn't perish, and instead returns to the crew lounge to be re-hired? I've got a Novice pilot, and to think I could lose them, after spending so much time in battle, getting them ranked up is a bit of a blow.
I'm not asking for an easy mode here, it's just I get rather attached to things. Yes, silly I know, it's a computer created NPC, but dammit, that's just me! Maybe make it that the NPC is reduced by a whole rank, and you need to pay double to get them back etc...
