I was disillusioned .. and 1300 hours in the game. I expected mastered crew of my ship that is a long 150m. Please prefer to take off, connect with Patch 2.4

Give us a character creator and camera.

Without sarcasm, JSE gave us a super game. You gave us a vision of how it will look in the future. But this is the wrong direction.

Do we know if FD are doing another Dev diary, or is new info to be divulged in up coming streams? Do we have dates for these streams??

You know what might be the easiest way to solve this impasse...

PYR8 - does that mean Pirate in Pirate lingo?

I like your solution, but there is a more gaming friendly (not dev time friendly mind you) idea of a Karma/Rep system, which has been reiterated a few times and we even squeezed a bit of info from Sammarco that they are "considering it". Basically your actions affect your karma, and your karma simultaneously allows or blocks certain game aspects. For example a lawful trader may get access to lucrative, exclusive hauling runs, and a die-hard criminal will have connections in the criminal world to get information about said runs. No "A/B" choices, and you're able to work on your karma by taking the appropriate actions. If you didn't notice, you now have a filter in the mission board listing "mission types", one of which is "illegal". This could be a step in the right direction.

What most of the Social Justice Warriors do not get in their "Crime and Punishment" threads, is that the life of a criminal should also be REWARDING for the additional risk they take. But all those lynch mobs just want to bring out their pitchforks and, well, lynch the seal clubbers :) If karma was properly implemented, we would have a real "blaze your own trail" in effect here instead of "blaze your own trail as long as it is in the direction I like". Karma works nicely in the fallout games for example, why shouldn't it work here?

Like the possibility of beaming around the place looking at different finds and views but this leaves a lot of questions floating around for example : material harvesting zapping from ship to ship to collect what u need, brings the question of why can we trade materials.

When walking comes round does picking a fight in a remote station mean that ur friends can pile in?

Don't get me wrong though I think the beaming around is a good thing, gameplay comes first. Just hoping the missions system is going to have a overhaul soon or at least some plan as when and how it'll be tied into the current game mechanics. Would even like to see this listed as a major update next season.

Few more questions:
be able to buy ships when docked?

be able to accept missions while docked?

be able to get rewards for missions?

be able to cash in bounties?

be able to transfer ship to docked stations?

be able to manage their own materials?

just a few off the head as they say.

Having fun

Over and out.

Did anybody else watch all 52 dev diary etc vids and see what game David wants to play?

He said the Coriolis stations were designed so the rotational gravity in the docking bay is only 0.1G so you could, eventually, walk around under your ship on the flight deck and unload 1/10th of a ton cargo canisters by hand. Tie a piece of string to your empty escape pod, walk it over to your friend's ship, push it in the hole it ejects through...

This of course assumes we get a remote "enter hangar" button? Ok so maybe it's easier to just dock, use the automated loading system and go to the pub. By hand might be quicker than using the SRV to move CMDR's between ships on a 0.1G moon though and would probably attract less attention if that escape pod contains a captured hostage.

If you haven't watched the dev diaries, please go and do so. Then maybe see what else David has achieved, like being welcomed into the BAFTA Fellowship with a string of creative genii from Hitchcock to Spielberg to Kubrick for his direct contribution to gaming. Click this link and watch the video to appreciate the progress Elite has made.

Instead of complaining about what FDev is failing to do to make "your" game more convenient, how about getting in sync with where David is, and has been going with this franchise for 33 years. Failure to support and encourage the vision of the guy trying to build this for you seems a bit counter productive, don't you think? Can we let him get on with it?

The whole point of the kickstarter was to avoid being financially beholden to pushy pew-pew publishing executives that want 3 lives, +1 at 10,000 and 10 minute play sessions, listen to what David says. He was the messiah that steered us away from that model in the first place, by teaming up with other gamers and doing it anyway in the face of adversity.

Please, can we stop breaking the game faster than FDev can fix it so they can devote that time and energy into productively delivering SPACE AWESOMENESS on time and under budget so WE ALL GET MORE content in each season! This is not rocket science kiddies. If you break and exploit stuff the guys that have to fix it can't work on new stuff...

David's vision is big, very VERY BIG! Efficient production means...

YOU GET BIGGER BETTER PEW PEWS FASTER!

All that effort you put into wasting FDev's production time still has to be paid for in wages.

Think about it!

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Ozram again.

Pfffft. I wonder what part of "no" these people are struggling with?

Yes of course. DB's grand, flawless vision.

That didn't include things like player groups, which is one of the most popular features of the game.

Dave's living in the past and has no clue what it takes to make a good multiplayer game, sorry. To get in sync with where he is I'd need a time machine.

Ahh.... So what was CQC then? Or have you perhaps conveniently forgotten how hard they tried to push that on us as a main feature of the game, up to and including a progress bar in your right hand panel?

Players have no hand in breaking the game. The devs break it, they hand it to us, and it's up to us to discover it's broken and tell them what they screwed up. If you've got a problem with all of the backtracking in the game's development, tell them to get it right the first time.

This is so exciting! Really looking forward to getting my buddies killed in every way imaginable :D

On a more serious note, Commanders looks awesome. I hope to see some new faces in my ship some day (I promise we won't blow up)
(maybe)

I think part of the problem for FD is they're trying to cater to two discrete groups of players: those who want more immediate gameplay, co-operative and/or PvP; and those who want more of a realistic role-playing experience. Neither is right or wrong, but it's very hard making a game that appeals to both.

Engineering is a good example; it's something that makes a lot of sense in a Solo or non-PvP game. But much less so in PvP. Sure, many multiplayer games gate certain weapons or mods behind level/rank/stat restrictions, but generally you earn these by playing the core game itself; i.e. in a FPS you earn better guns by shooting people. Not by mining, or by travelling very far. Since Engineering gives a substantial advantage though, it's not really something you can easily opt out of.

Multicrew could end up being similarly divisive. Maybe we'll just end up with new game modes, with different rules in each. "Solo", "Open RPG" and "Open Action"? :p

Yeah, I just made it up to fit the narrative as I was going along, glad it's obvious!
It's also conveniently only 4 characters long so it should 'fit' instead of the CMDR.
[I did try it with an I instead of a Y but there may be spacing issues with that]

What most of the Social Justice Warriors do not get in their "Crime and Punishment" threads, is that the life of a criminal should also be REWARDING for the additional risk they take. That's not quite where I was going with the train of thought. At the moment we only have one 'choice', Pilots Federation recruit with the "honourable" option to impress the Federation and Empire powers that be and rank up with them as well.

Why on Earth would a dishonest, murderous, thieving cut throat volunteer to join such a "career" path in the first place? If your play style persistently shows a total disregard for law, order, personal property or human life, why be a CMDR?

Conversely, why would a CMDR, highly respected and decorated for their dedicated service to the Pilots Federation want the good name and standing of their organisation besmirched by the behaviour of those clearly not suited to it?

Ultimately it's up to the Pilots Federation to weed out the "wolves in sheep's clothing" so they stop getting the benefit of membership, since they clearly don't respect the code of conduct and 'seal-clubbers' SHOULD be identified as such.

If such a system were implemented it might be a lot easier for FDev to run a live stream event without the constant grief because those pirates are forced to think long and hard about the risk of being massively ganked by system forces.

PYR8's can try sneaking into heavily patrolled, high security systems to destroy innocent, hard working traders trying to make a living on tight margins but those charged with protecting trade are paid, and thus obliged to kill them on sight.

If a trader wants the big profits that come from trying to run desperately needed supplies into a low security or anarchy system, territory where the PYR8's control all traffic in and out, they may want to prepare accordingly, with wing mates.

There is equal opportunity for both extremes. Back in Elite you did not risk your cargo trying to run the blockade in an anarchy system until you were 'gud'! Really gud! The cop killers also knew the risks of trying to dock in a Corporate State.

The point is this, you can't have it both ways. If you want to play a PYR8 you choose to eliminate yourself from the benefits of not being one, like you can't join any of the military organisations because you wouldn't pass the psyche test.

Should you choose to mend your ways, hit the reset [an option I'd remove tbh].

If you were paying attention, he prefers "David" and you may be overlooking some of the benefits bestowed by HRH when she awards you an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire [OBE].

Two more level ups to Knight Commander and you're obliged to use "Sir David Braben". Peasant.

Ahh.... So what was CQC then? Or have you perhaps conveniently forgotten how hard they tried to push that on us as a main feature of the game, up to and including a progress bar in your right hand panel?

CQC seemed to be an attempt to appease the pew-pews. Having played many other games with a similar feature that never, ever gets used despite people begging and offering bribes in the global chat channels, it seems like wasted time.

The pew-pews don't seem to want a toe to toe, fair and balanced deathmatch with other pew-pews. What they do seem to want is to gank those trying to mind their own business and get some kind of sadistic pleasure from being yelled at?

Is this a second child, any attention is good attention, even if I'm being beaten because the only way I get any is being naughty mentality? Or, is it a product of parents that prefer to give their children a daily chemical lobotomy tablet?

Players have no hand in breaking the game. The devs break it, they hand it to us, and it's up to us to discover it's broken and tell them what they screwed up. If you've got a problem with all of the backtracking in the game's development, tell them to get it right the first time.

If you find a bug you have a choice. Either poke it to find the most effective way to exploit it then share such cheats with all the other impatient cheats on youtube or, report it so the issue can be remedied and the game is playable as intended.

Those issues not discovered, or actively covered up to be exploited later by the Alpha and Beta testers do sometimes slip through into the live system, of course. FDev do what they can to avoid this, but there's a lot more players than dev's.

You could try HELPING THEM make it better instead of being a disrespectful jerk?

Have to be honest and 10 days on I'm still somewhat dismayed that as far as we know, after multi-crew happens when I look to my left in the Clipper I'll still be seeing this empty seat if I'm in solo.

I mean the seat itself is great, really. It's an awesome seat. Would look far better with a co-pilot sat in it though.

That's how I felt from the moment NPC crew were launched.

NPC-MC in 2.3 would be nice. Even better would be: special NPCs Like a Chewie, roaring when the FSD is offline or a C3PO babbling about the computers dialect or a depressed Marvin commenting the flight to sag-a. I would literally almost pay a fortune for NPCs like that. There's already a Shatner AI for the ship (to bad it's not in-game) so why not have a robot or some wacky alien on board as well. (wink wink @ Frontier's marketing and sales department)

No Jar-Jar-Binks please.

These ideas could be fun. Have you thought about approaching the guys at HCS to see if they're able to negotiate the required royalties to make something like this happen? A third party that already has a team dedicated to this kind of innovative product may be much better equipped to make your dream a reality. ;)

Edit: Oops, forgot the link :p
