2.3 when?

With no evidence at all beyond history, I'm guessing mid to late April :)

I'm certainly ready for it to drop

Do you want absolutely terrible turret controls? Because if you keep saying "Now? Now? Now?" Than that is what you are going to get. And this newest beta has had so many crashes this evening I am convinced they went and created more problems than they solved.

Other than Turrets needing possibly a rework from the ground up I do however think the rest of it is getting close to go. Although either way I hope we get 4 more weeks. Because I decided to pick up some packhound missles and can't bear the shame of flying anything than the Federal Flag. But my Beta account is nice and loyal so I can test away while the Live server tick tocks away.

Nobody in this thread said anything like that... The Cat was just asking if/when there is an eta on it coming out. I haven't looked at any of the code for the turrets so can't talk at that, what did you see that makes you think it's a ground-up re-write job?

Don't rush it! Geez. Play some other games! We need 2.3 to be polished and working much better than our typical release because of whiners wanting it now now now. Let them do their job this time. Coding can be hard and fixing bug is sometimes stuff of nightmares.

Just look at Star Citizen, they started development year before ED and they're not even out of alpha yet.

Wow.

Are you guys replying to the thread title without reading the post?

Asking a question about something that has no obvious info, is not rushing

I don't recall ever going past 5 betas before release.

I'd guess this weekend or next whether it's ready or not.

In any event, I'm sure they'll want it ready before Christmas...

Well it was about 4 minutes into watching my gunner struggle to hit the T9 in front of our face that i started to suspect that something was wrong. Basically they need to switch to Mouse and keys to accurately aim and what is the point of playing this game if it isn't on HOTAS?. And even doing that it is still a downgrade from simply letting the AI fire. I have to say time spent actually hitting the target is down at least 75% thanks to pesky fallible humans. And again we are talking a T9 here while i was more or less perfectly still anything more maneuverable is out of the question. As far as DPS goes it is a downgrade since you aren't actually hitting anything. And that is unacceptable. Oh did I mention I have to worry about friendly fire now? it used to be turrets had 0% chance of hitting someone you didn't want to hit. Now it is impossible to operate inside non anarchy systems since my gunner is never more than one shot away from inciting a lynch mob.

Livestreams either said "no decision on the date yet" or "when its ready".

Personally MC has a few back end issues still so I'd expect earliest next Tue-Thurs. My personal bets are the 2nd week of April. This has been a true old school beta with big bugs so expecing the length to be longer accordingly.

Ah, the aiming thing, that reminds me of the difference between escaping interdiction using HOTAS vs the mouse; Two totally different things, using a mouse is many fold easier. I'm not sure of a solution here, there’s a few games with that problem. War Thunder springs to mind - mouse players have an advantage over HOTAS players, not because of the game but because a mouse gives you that accurate fine tracking control using small movements. Hopefully they can smooth it out a bit for the rest of us

Hitting friendlies, though, is just a the side effect from letting someone else on your ship control guns, so I'm okay with that even though it will be frustrating. I don't think it was ever going to be more effective than having the AI do it, unless the human player can react quicker than a computer. That's human error on behalf of your crew ;) It sucks but if your crew shoot someone, what you described seems fair. Why shouldn't they draw a bounty?

It's the Forum. For many they cannot answer a players simple question without putting them down for asking it. It's more important to get on their soapbox and rake the coals over the latest game issue that bugs them instead of starting their own thread. If we ignored them it wouldn't be so bad I guess.

I guess that, as usual, they'll have to release it before they should/want.
I think the first or second week of april. There's the ps4 release sometime in q2, and they will need to fix as much as they can of 2.3, so what's better than live to get everything out of it?

Hmm I originally thought 4 weeks from when Multicrew went in Beta, that'd be the end of next week.

But after hearing that the latest Beta 5 has some bugs I think it could well be 6 weeks after MC went in...

I dont even have a guess on this subject, not now at least. And frankly in its current inception, I dont care anymore. The proposed changes to the MC reward system makes it all but irrelevant in terms of "useability", Cant see myself gimping my gains/rep/rank with this feature. Wings are apparently not affected, so will stick to that.

Cheers Cmdr's

Hopefully, they'll drop it soon, so the way is clear for further stuff like 2.4 or beyond. 2.3 never touches me at all, only the CC a little bit.

For 2.2 I think they were 8 updates before launch, I am afraid 2.2 is going to set a new record. It was widely predicted MC would be a networking mess, and we guessed right. Is likely to take longer than expected. There have actually been 6 updates, but the first one was too minor, and the real beta testing in the context of MC only started three weeks ago when MC was finally enabled. So it haven't been not even a month yet of testing it. There were three updates to the beta without multicrew, and 2.3.2.01 besides enabling MC, and besides the 'behind the curtains' work to make it stable enough for testing, was also a minor patch.

So, I prefer to assume we are just in the third 'real' update so far. For me, the regular month and a half of beta testing began the 9th of March. Mid to late April is my prediction, and I wont be surprised if it extends to beginning of May. But if that is so, I would expect some real additions to MC, such as gimballed weapons for the gunner, and SRV and some basic navigation controls for the other roles.
