2.4 not before Oct?

"Elite Dangerous Development continues full throttle"... I´m sorry, but "Full throttle" was 4 major patches a year. We are back to 2 patches a year with less content.

Just my feelings. For me as a long term customer things develop in the totally wrong direction. Starting with enthusiastic Kickstarter, a good Season 1, a not so good Season 2 Part 1 in 2016 and a very bad - yet not complete - Season 2 Part 2 in 2017.

In all fairness, FD never promised one season per year. You can't blame them for your assumptions being incorrect.

October?
i hope we will get some funny content and lore community events during those 3 future month in order to introduce the 2.4 .
ATM, i m sorry, but,Palin's resine collect is not enought !
but it s a good idea to led new players on Tharg wreck and introduce them on the lore.
Make more FD!
TY

Season one wasn't any better than Season two. I'd say it was worse with powerplay and CQC. Horizons had some very good QOL improvements and planetary landings...

a matter of taste, imo. however part 2 took twice as long and had twice the bugs. let's hope that's not a pattern ...

Maybe I'm just easy to please, but I started playing just before 2.1 released (2.0/2.1 on Xbox) and I've been very happy with every update so far. I've of course been bummed out about things that didn't make it into each update, but I have been very pleased with what has actually gone in thusfar.

I personally think Season 2 has taken too long. I suspect that FD agrees with this observation. What they will be able to improve in future remains to be seen. Meanwhile ED still remains one of most complex games I have knowledge of to date, and struggles of competition to produce anything similar indicates it is just beyond colossal task than even most knowledgeable supports have imagined.

Still, I want to point out that Season 2 got lot of infrastructure development - persistent POIs which can be introduced to game without client update? NPC avatars? Work towards more fleshed out universe? YES YES YES - which I suspect wasn't planned before initial outing of Season 2. THIS is way more important, and gives me hope for post 2.4 updates which definitely will build upon work done for Horizons in this regard.

Will complaining cease? Of course not. But that's doesn't matter that much at this point.

As for Season 1 features - I think biggest disappointment is that they haven't been fleshed out. CQC needs bots play to make it a thing, other than that it was awesome addition. Also CQC would benefit heavily from cross play even just between XBO and Windows. And then there's PowerPlay...to be fair, initial trashing of this mode has doomed it at this point. Majority of players claim it as grind - besides giving huge amount of credits - just to get stuff. Metaplay is done by small percentage of players. So it is a bit stuck in chicken and egg situation. Sandro pitched PP for 2.4 post upgrades again in latest stream and it is very visible he has huge plans for it. Just numbers doesn't support it. New comers and casuals are not interested in PP because it has negative meta game connonations and power players are way to cynical to care.

Main problem here: Powerplay is "optional". And when you have negative experience you opt out and continue to have fun somewhere else. Luckily Elite gives us more than one thing to do. And that´s why I (we=) all love this game.

So what you're saying is on the evening of oct 7th, the forum will be flooded with posts of "this sounds amazing, I can't wait!" mixed with "what the heck FD, you call that core enhancements?!?!"
:)
followed by an implementation ala multi crew, nice graphics but shallow barebones gameplay.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Looks to be a really fun event! Sadly I won't be able to attend. Ah well.

Doubtful. My observation of 2.3, is that it was a very (very) deep code upgrade. Don't think we'll ever see it's like again actually (probably a good thing for the devs who have to debug it as well as everyone else). Season 2 was always going to be a toughie, still very much in core mechanics territory but .. even though I'm as impatient as anyone to see them fleshed out more .. floating point module numbers (engineers), nested vehicles (guardians) and p2p character basics (commanders) only spell great things for the future from where I sit.
