2.4 The Additionals

I don't have to say that general oppinion of Elite is mixed at best, but most of us still love the game. I also hear a lot of desire for 2.4 to be a fix rather than adding additional content. However what I come across more is a desire for there to be more in the last updates we've had throughout this season, which is why I'm thinking that it'd be a good idea if 2.4 put the polish on this season before we get to season 3.

I think that 2.4 should go back over every update we've had in season 2 to add further content, fix bugs, and release it in segments. Might be best to have beta servers up during all of 2.4 until the final segment is released.

I'd recommend this.

2.4
More SRVs, mining, attack, exploration, etc.
SRV modules and hardpoints like ships.
Maybe even a shuttle craft. A SRV fighter combo. No weapons, increased cargo, and can land and move around. It can land at small landing pads, completing missions, or trading.
More planet side activities with mining.

2.4.1
Engineer fighters and SRVs
More modules to engineer, or engineering options maybe engineer non modular stuff like materials and data storage.

2.4.2

More fighter roles. Miners that can prospect and mine away from the mothership leaving ore for her to collect. This would add to mining in Multi crew.
Service fighter, can repair hull damage, modules, has fuel limpets.
Exploration fighter, Supercruise capable, can explore other parts of a solar system independently from the mothership. Added multi crew activity.
Maybe modules for fighters too.
More passenger related missions such as search and rescue, distress calls, service calls, missions that can utilize the additional fighters. Medical cabins for certain missions like search and rescue, distress calls, etc.

Add SRVs to multicrew.
Add permissions for navigation, pips, modules, and even helm control.
Rebuy deposits, the percentage of the reward you can earn depends on the percentage of the ship's rebuy you can match.
Utilize the additional crafts to their full potential.
Multicrew missions.

That's just some stuff off of the top of my head. What are your thoughts?

I don't want anything truly *new*, the only new stuff I want is the stuff that fleshes out what is already in the game &-where possible-connects them together much better.

Like Passenger Contracts where player actions can increase, not just decrease, passenger satisfaction-& where wrinkles can play out like entirely new missions all their own.

Like Missions that routinely have multiple, diverse branches & frequent follow-ons (& better text).

Like Engineers where i can exchange in a rarer material to get a better upgrade outcome, & where my regular interaction with them has more roleplay elements & less "upgrade & trash".

Like a genuine sense of connection between Powers & Factions-where aiding a Faction will aid a Power you are pledged to, as well as earning you merits.

Like Factions whose interactions have more of a roleplay element to them-through the mission givers, the NPC's that work for that faction, & an ability to call in favours.

That is the kind of thing I want 2.4 to be.
 
Great ideas there, btw. I forgot to add, more variety of planets to land on. I'm not expecting Eartlikes or Water Worlds-just planets with even just the thinnest of atmospheres (0.0 to 0.2)-just enough that you can feel the difference in flight model that even a trace atmosphere can bring.....and can encounter planetary surfaces that have had even minor "weather based" effects change their features.

I can definitely get behind having more soul in the world, and a sense of purpose.

I think there will a big opportunity to boost that when they introduce exploring space stations. I hope they don't fumble that one.
