Hardware & Technical 200mm Noctua Fans Coming Q2/2017

I plan on using Noctua fans and their NH D15 CPU cooler for my upcoming RyZen gaming rig.

I wrote Noctua an email yesterday as I need 3 x 200mm fans for proper cooling and their website only shows up to 140mm.

I asked about the future availability of 200mm fans and this was their response.

Dear Mr. xxxxxxxxxx,

thanks for contacting Noctua!

We're happy to tell you, that we'll have a 200mm fan ready in Q2/2017. Probably around June.
Thanks for your patience!

yeesh, that is an massive, ugly fan... does the ryzen run that hot?
if it requires something that massive, may want to consider an aio cooler.

What kind of case are you running?

Correct. I was using closed loops until a few months ago. If you have the space (i.e. a mid or full tower) then frankly a chunky radiator and some big fans running at low RPM are always going to be more quiet.

Do matrure people realistically care what their internals look like so long as airflow is decent? :D

I like to have both, which is why I went liquid cooling. :) and of course a well-maintained and organized inside is going to have better airflow than a disorganized mess, so... yes, I'd say "matrure" [sic] people do realistically care with the inside of their computer looks like.

But with respect to that particular cooler-- the thing may look like hell, but it works, it's quiet, and it's cheap. So, go for it.

I got the same reply to an enquiry I made. I really do hope that they bring them out on schedule this time and not do another Lucy and whip the ball away.

I have been using Noctua fans basically since they first came out and they have never let me down - as opposed to the products of other manufacturers.

No I couldn't give a monkeys what they look like, as long as they get the job done and keep doing that job for many years.

Correct. Same reason I use them everywhere.

I would certainly pick black over beige but I'm fairly convinced by now that they did that to make them stand out on the shelf and in demo cases. Perhaps now they have the reputation they can begin getting them everywhere and in cases where people care about pretty lights and colours etc.

My next build will not have any interior lighting if I can manage it. I'm going to go for functionality and efficiency over appearance.
