Nah, blender is what I use to replace 3dsMax since they don't do a perpetual license anymore (and as a hobbyist I'm not paying their yearly license price). Windows 10 and 3dsMax from2007 don't play well together.
I think it was Daz Studio. Looking at their website now they seem to have expanded into other things. Now it is apparently called Daz3d.
Just went back and looked at my hobby work and found that I did more than 2. I do remember the first one was hand created because "that's the only way to do it or your cheating". It was ok.
Yes, looking at the last one I did I stated it was daz studio. So that was it.
As a side note, my pictures aren't as terrible as I remember them being.
Further edit: sure enough in the description for one of them I stated that I did only 2 with a hand created human. Yay for keeping notes.
