2023 DLC

what do you think it will be and when it will be released
Frontier's release cycle is pretty consistent: March, June, September, December, repeat. They never do two expansion packs in a row so the March 2023 DLC will almost certainly be another creature pack. They still need to add at least some of the missing creatures from Dominion and Camp Cretaceous. They're definitely adding Microceratus and Tarbosaurus sometime this year. I predict March or June. It'd be weird to wait longer than that. I'm hoping that they add Smilodon (saber tooth), Sino-Spino (Spinoceratops), and Nothosaurus as well, but those all have their own unique reasons for why they might not get added. Smilodon would be kind of odd as the lone mammal (aside from humans and goats) in the game, even alongside fellow synapsids Lystrosaurus and Dimetrodon. Sino-Spino's only ever seen as a juvenile, and Nothosaurus is semi-aquatic. If they do add all five creatures, then they'll probably be split between the March and June DLC, or even September, since Frontier seems pretty set on only four new creatures (excluding variants and skins) per DLC.

I'm hoping for free Microceratus in June (in addition to paid DLC) to celebrate Jurassic Park the movie's 30th anniversary. Otherwise, maybe Microceratus will be in an Isla Nublar pack alongside Teratophoneus, Peloroplites, (both seen dead in Fallen Kingdom) and Segisaurus (apparently seen on the Jurassic Park brochure)? The other Camp Cretaceous creatures I expect to see in a Mantah Corp pack. Sure, Tarbosaurus is from InGen, but the 65 MYA T. rex still shows up in the Dominion BioSyn expansion despite never appearing in BioSyn Valley, and Moros intrepidus shows up in the Dominion Malta expansion despite never being seen in Malta.

Credit goes to Evolution Square for a lot of what I just stated above.

Beyond that, I've no idea what Frontier has planned. I've got my fingers crossed for a Socotra Island (where the Dominion Prologue was filmed) map and hopefully some more feathered dinos, furry pterosaurs, and non-dinosaur terrestrial creatures. It would otherwise seem kind of weird that Frontier developed a whole new shader just for seven movie creatures / skins and also never expanded on the possibilities that Dimetrodon and Lystrosaurus bring to the table.

We are all waiting for Microceratus to be added. According to the DPG, Segisaurus was planned to be added as an attraction in Jurassic Park.

I wonder if the other novel-exclusive species will be added: Hadrosaurus and Othnielia/ Nanosaurus.

The next PDLC would undoubtfully be a dino pack for some time during the Spring. But rather than a pack identical to the Camp Cretaceous Dinosaur Pack, the first that did come out on 2022, I believe it will be a 4+ dino pack, period based where it introduces two land, one air, and one marine species. If it's one of those "Late" and "Early" period packs again, the only feasible thing I can think of is the Jurassic period, which would mean there will be a second one in the Autum. If it's not, then it might be Permian or Triassic themed, which could mean the same for the Autum as well.

The bigger question I have and wonder about is this, "When will it first be announced? This month, March, or April as my latest guess just like JWE1's Carnivore Dinosaur Pack?"

Fighting Sauropods would be awesome!
100%. The Sauropods are just giant walking sacks of meat, and that's sad to see. I guess maybe that's based on the scene from Jurassic World where the Indominus kills several Apatosauruses. But the point of that scene was that the Indominus was a bloodthirsty killing machine, not that sauropods are bad at fighting. In real life, any of the large sauropods in the game could easily withstand an attack from any of the carnivores, and would probably kill or badly injure the carnivore at that.

I'd like an Mid or Late Jurassic pack. There's a lot they could do with either. We have a ton of Stegos, but another Sauropod would be awesome. So would an Allo sized carnivore, like Torvosaurus, Saurophaganax. Even Hesperornithoides would be cool

Early Jurassic could be tough because Dinos were still pretty basal at this point, but Mid-Jurassic could work because that's when we start seeing dinosaurs and their diversity start to flourish

In Ark: Survival Evolved, the Apatosaurus uses its long tail like a whip to attack.

Apatosaurus, Diplodocus, and possibly Mamenchisaurus (as depicted in the movie version of The Lost World: Jurassic Park) should be able to fight.

Sauropod's another attack is rearing up on their hind legs and crush the assailant with its front legs.

I don't think we'll be fortunate enough to get Early, Mid, and Late Jurassic packs. If anything we'll get a Jurassic pack, and maybe a Triassic pack. The Cretaceous was split into two packs only because (1) the Cretaceous is a LOOOOONNGG period, almost 80 million years, and (2) the Cretaceous is when most of the popular dinosaurs lived.

Idk, that seems like a bad excuse if they don't split the Jurassic. It's still almost 60 million years and is the Golden Age of dinosaurs. Would be lazy if they didn't split it up or give us one at all.

If there will be any 4+ dino packs based on the Jurassic period, I’m almost certain there will be two as both either “Early” and “Late.” “Middle,” I don’t think so as they might want to be consistent with the design style of how they make their packs. But if something “Middle” will be involved somehow, I won’t be surprised if they have decided to have the Middle epoch is split in half and included per speculative Early and Late pack.

I have no doubts there will be something this March, at least next week at earliest, based on my observations on how their “standard” dinosaur packs are always announced and released in both games and their new JWE2 livestream scheduling for this year since returning from the holidays.

But I wonder if they intended to make a small tease today about a possible next big update, or maybe it was accidental. I only noticed it through BestInSlot’s video from today about today’s JWE Twitter mini-game post. A detail which I didn’t catch until now. It certainly makes me wonder what an in-game Jurassic Park zipline might look like, so I can explore some new ideas.
