21000000 loss

FDev should accept some responsibility.
Many saying that it's an online game and "clearly" there is no pause..
But originally pressing ESC took you to the Pause Menu (now renamed), and it still takes you to a place where the first option is "Resume".

Resume comes after what? A pause usually.

These fora are so unhelpful.

Unhelpful? The op had the issue explained. Unsympathetic ? Maybe but even then we have all made a mistake at some point so I would say it's more just friendly banter

For four pages no less. It's no wonder OP hasn't returned, his query was answered on post 2, and the rest have just been chiding or mocking him. [up] Lovely community we have here.

OP: I paused the game and now I'm dead!!!

Community: Listen, and understand! That Terminator Elite Dangerous is out there! It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop... ever, until you are dead!

Pause!...

The game isn't paused until you exit to the Main Menu.

That's just the kind of game it is. (But you are also 100% safe inside a docking bay.)

If you contact Support via their ticket system and explain your situation, I'm sure they'll assist you with reimbursement. They are quite generous and understanding. Just don't abuse it and force them to get stingy with you. ;)

People need to stop wasting FD support's time on their own stupid mistakes.

I don't create a ticket to Firaxis every time I lose a soldier in XCOM

No, FDev should not accept any responsibility.

Ever seen the warning label on a box of bullets that says "Warning: Discharging this ammunition into your skull may cause death."?

What about the warning sign that fire is hot?

Ok, crap, that one is real.

But we really, really, really have to stop enabling people not to take responsibility for their actions and decisions.

I can't think of a single online MMO game that has a "Pause" feature. How do you "pause" someone else?

There was a line on the box of a Husqvana chain saw once that said "Do not attempt to stop chain with hands or testicles" (That was the literal translation).

Holy Hannah, seriously? (Slightly Off-Topic) - Where did that 'Noob mistakes you have made' thread go? Y'know, I actually found that *really* helpful/informative in a few places (as well as almost blowing a massive snot-bubble down my beard trying not to explode with laughter on a packed bus)! :D

Play nice please, new posters need helpful advice you rotten lot.

To the OP, If you have to leave the game always quit to the menu.

But surely there is something fundamentally wrong with having the ability to end up with something that costs 21,000,000 rebuy and somehow not even know this about the game. It should take so long acquire the required assets that this should be almost impossible.

Is it possible to do this without exploits? If so the game balance is wrong.

Once upon a time

When you could pick up a lot of missions hauling poop from a certain station and transporting it to several stations 15 jumps away in a Conda

I took a call from wifey, left the game with the ship going nowhere fast in SC and thought "ahh, that will be fine...."

came back to see the re-buy screen and a full board of missions failed (probably about 50m)

think this is one of those lessons most of us learn the hard way - the game only stops when you log out

(and before anybody says anything about exploits - this was on an old account and yes, It did spoil the game for me on that save)

It's the attitude that is unhelpful IMO. "OP you are sooo dumb!" But it is those replying who have not understood. That is typical here, unfortunately.

Heh. Never, ever go afk with cargo in your hold or a mission in your transactions tab, without quitting to main menu.

We do understand. We understand that OP made a newbie mistake. We're not getting onto him for that, we're getting onto him for the attitude that this is everyone else's fault. If you're translating that to "OP you are so dumb" that's on you not them.

... even though that is pretty dumb Not the initial mistake, but blaming the universe or the devs when he screwed up.

Dude had a 21Mcr learning experience. That's going to sting, but the only thing to do now is learn from mistakes and recognize that there is no pausing in this game, there's only logging out to main menu, which this guy clearly did not know and had to find out the funny way.
