282k Ls ... Really?

Someone at Frontier has a weird sense of humor. Durius' only two station are both over 282,000Ls from the nav beacon lol. I didn't know systems could be that big, I have to rethink every system I've explored now...:( I'll have plenty of time to do so while in supercruise..

Try Alpha Centauri. Hutton Station.

It's literally .25ly from the star you arrive at.

Now read it again.

.25ly

A QUARTER OF A LIGHT-YEAR

It takes in excess of an hour typically to reach Hutton Station from where you arrive. More if you stop for USS's or get interdicted.

I hope it's worth it to travel that long to reach a single station.

I'd say it is.

But it really isn't. The most value you can get is a Rare good you can pick up there, and the travel time required to just reach the station could send you from one rare good to another the regular way instead.

There's a point where adding realism into a *game* detracts from the enjoyment of the game. I've encountered these long in-system distances too and its annoying....especially when the only stations with special goods or mission items within several light years happen to be in that system. An adjustment to these systems would be nice.

Haven't been there, not sure I ma looking foreward to go ;)

Sounds like HUGE grav wells in the system

Distance isn't the problem, if you know how to fly. But in some cases, you'll encounter systems with big grav wells and even short distances can be a pain

Two days ago I got spawned (after login) more than 2,200,000Ls away from my target.
Pretty sure it was a bug, though ;)

Still not sure why people are complaining about this.

But then again I fly 1:1 flights in MSFSX lol.

Took a group of friends, 2 vipers, 2 eagles, my eagle and another friend in a sidewinder to durius. We had a blast, going to write an AAR on the forums after I finish scanning everything here.

There is a high tech world 20+ Ly away from durius in empire which is a good staging base.

The 200k ls warp is nothing.

I did the 1.6 mil ls warp for StarLube in 20 mins and got a lot of stuff done around the house in that time. I really enjoy that you can do that, and not be interdicted

What I would like is the option to warp directly to the star you choose. AFTER you discover/surface scan it.

I think you default to the biggest star in the system (biggest mass) but haven't visited enough system to prove it. What's your experience? Of course mass NOT EQUAL size

I don't really mind the distances, and if a station is a gazillion ls away, I just won't do it.

However, what Frontier could do, is add real incentive to do it. Given most traders probably don't want the run, the buy-price of commodities at these stations should be significantly higher, thereby allowing serious profit to be made for those willing to invest the time.

I like the way you take it on the chin, OP.

Yes, "rethink" would be the key word. Know your systems before accepting missions, and abandon if you don't want to go where it sends you.

Decision making, your choices....what the game is about. ;)

Ahh come on there are only a few stations in systems that are over 100k away from jump in point while there are 1000's of stations <500ls away. If you dont like the area you can just move to another.

That doesn't help. All these strats only kick in once you have control of the throttle. For the VAST amount of the initial journey you have no control, and your throttle is maxxed anyway. THAT is the part that is time-consuming. Shaving a few seconds off by spiralling or hard-coring it is next to irrelevant in comparison.

Have a feeling you might be right but it could be confirmation bias. Would like official confirmation at some point, or at least give us the ability to jump between stars that are over 250,000LS away.

I did the journey to Pinzon dock (1,760,000LS from Nav Beacon), and it took me 2.5 hours pre-interdiction-nerf as I was getting interdicted every few minutes... That was frustrating, although I did manage to make 400K CR in bounties from the interdictors.

I'd love to be greeted by a swivel-eyed looney old guy with a white beard, who says, "We don't get many visitors 'round these parts... I'd like to introduce you to my sister, she makes rather nice cakes."

"once you have control of the throttle", sorry I don't understand you there, you mean when you are mired in a gravity well your max speed is limited?
Shaving a few secs off? I travel the same distance in less than half the time as people who complain... dunno suit yourself, I actually just remembered your other posts NVM
