2nd abortive Power Play attempt over in less than 24 hours.

I decided to give PP another go this week, as my first attempt wasn't very successful and I didn't really stick with it long enough to give it a fair chance.

Having not enjoyed carting around Mcguffins for one merit a piece I decided to go straight for the most efficient ways of grinding I could find, namely killing other powers ships in their systems for 15 merits a pop.

Suffice to say I failed hard, tried several systems controlled or exploited by enemy powers, shot down a few of their ships and all I've achieved is running up about 80 grand of bounties. No merits at all

Now obviously the fault is all mine and I'm doing something wrong, that's fine. The problem is that I find the whole PP concept/premise so unengaging that I really can't be bothered to put any more effort into researching exactly how to do it or keeping on the treadmill if I had.

Sorry if there is no constructive criticism here but I really can't offer anything that I think would make PP more appealing with regard to the mechanics of it. The only way I think I could be convinced stick with the obvious grind would be to be bribed into it with much better/easier rewards but I know that's not going to happen.

Maybe I'm missing something really obvious about the whole PP concept but playing for my faction really seems to conflict with playing for myself i.e earning credits, progressing my rankings, having fun. These two things should complement each other yet, for me at least, they do not.

I wont rule out giving it another try some time but I can't see the outcome being any different unless there are fundamental changes in the meantime.

Sorry Frontier. I do love the rest of your game though.

Best thing about powerplay from a gameplay stand point is that you can defect early with no consequence and go back to enjoying the game.

Powerplay has two real problems.

1 : Influence of players in solo/group mode who can't be stopped from taking actions.
2: People taking actions without thinking about it, that's basically why 4 powers are now in turmoil, becous people expend systems that do not bring enough income, causing a colapse of the faction. For exemple, it makes me think about ArcheAge's courthouse, you give power to idiots.

Untill thoes two points are fixed, Powerplay will not be as great as it was ment to be.
