2nd sensor is fun!

So I was very good to myself over Xmas and got a new x56 HOTAS to replace my failing x55 and the touch controllers. Finally having access to my pc I am spoiled for choice as to what to setup first but opted for joystick calibration in case the x56 shares the same quality issues some had with the x55 - thankfully mine seems to be fine!

I am working through the tutorials which are great fun by the way! I like the current iteration. The first thing that really hit me though was how much better the tracking is with a second sensor! Walking around the cockpit now is a real possibility and I spent more time crawling around on the floor looking around the sidewinder than I did flying the thing!

I didn't lose tracking once even though both sensors are just plonked on either side of the desk.
When I'm sure that the x56 is ready to rock n roll I am going to bring out the conda and captain Picard the sh/t out of the bridge!

[big grin]

want a Pro tip, buy an auto docker for the cona, go stand next to your seat and let it auto dock. best VR vibe ever!!

Agree the second sensor really improved the wider-area tracking. With one sensor I woul lose tracking just turning to look at the bridge rear doors etc. Now its solid tracking everywhere.

This sounds awesome, and possibly the only reason I would buy the docking computer.

Another very cool VR tip - disable your HUD. If you press Ctrl+Alt+G your entire HUD will turn off and press again it'll come back on. It's not something you can change/bind in the menu so you can bind it to a button on your X56 with an app like JoyToKey (which is a near must have for a HOTAS player). I do this all the time, especially while in Witch Space (during a FSD jump). There are so many times where turning off the HUD and being able to more clearly see things is just fantastic. For the SRV it's pretty epic as you can look around anywhere you want without the side panels popping up blocking your view. You'll still hear the pop-in sound but your view will be unobstructed.

Give it a try, you'll love it.
