3.0 offers absolutely no protection against big player ships griefing small player ships

Dude, I'm an adrenaline junkie. Combat provides that

I think you need to get out more...If I need an adrenaline fix...I climb, I pothole (you'd call it Spelunking in the US) I Dive...
I've never heard of anyone getting an "adrenaline fix" sat behind their desk, beer in one hand snacks in the other :)

To each their own, I get mad waisted and go on a massacare, sometimes in eravate in a wing of 4.

Think about it. I could introduce you. I'll interdict first: "Here he is, the scourge of the seven systems, the prince of pillage, the lieutenant of loot, heeeeeeere's .... crap. Instance lost".

On a short trip at the mo, we'll arrange something when I get back. After I PvP Jason that is.

Might be best to put a pin in any plans post match with me; you aren't going to want to move away from your doughnut pillow after I'm done with you.

Dear me, @jasonbirder, I'm in danger of calling 'House!' here.

In your earlier posts, many times, in this one thread, you've repeatedly called those whose in-game violence you disapprove of 'idiots', you've gone on to question their age, whether they still live with their mothers and (in essence) their masculinity, now you wrap it up with assertions of your own superior detachment and RL masculine pursuits.

Take a step back from this conversation. Do you see that, just perhaps, what the world is currently seeing of you is not quite how you might wish to be seen...? How, if you were watching someone else doing what I describe, you might wonder whether they were fearful and over-compensating...?

The sad thing is that you started off making reasonable points but became frustrated. OK, it happens to us all sometimes. And I do appreciate that you may have felt being ganged up on.

But fer cryin out loud, take a step back man. In one week nobody will remember who you are or what you said anyway. Just don't make it any worse.

This has been an interesting read to say the least. Just a couple of points...

(1) If some do get their wishes and a PVP flag is included in the game, I do hope it can only be set whilst docked at a station. Otherwise, some will fly with a flag set to PVP then change the flag at the first instance of trouble! And as the way the flag should work, if all it is going to do is to hide you from the nasties, then you might as well play in a PG or Solo. I would much rather have it that if a ship is attacked who has the flag set to 'No PVP' then there is an immediate response by System Authority ships against the attacker, preferably these new super police ships.

(2) I know there are genuine pirates out there, who role play but lets be honest here, the majority of 'pirates' are just gankers who don't want to call themselves gankers. Fudge (yep cleaned that up lol) the last time I was in Open I was interdicted by a 'pirate', even had a conversation with him after he realised my ship was a little more powerful than his. I even offered do drop some cargo because I kinda felt sorry for him and after a little to and froing, he finally admitted he didn't actually have any cargo racks installed so he couldn't umm collect said cargo. After that I began to wonder just how many pirates actually collect the cargo, whether from someone doing the right thing and jettisoning it or from a destroyed 'target'.

When did I say that's the only exciting thing I do? If we're naming IRL hobbies, I go to the shooting range, take my muscle car for a spin, do a bit of hunting now and then, and I used to enjoy wakeboarding when I lived in an area that had the facilities for that. You keep reading into what people say, and making personal attacks based on what you choose to see, not what they say.

Yall already have a PVP flag its private and solo.

The problem is some of you people choose to PVP inside those modes.(this is called having your cake and eating it too)

Elite Dangerous is the only game where I've heard some monkey call it "indirect pvp". ITS ALL PVP.

Ya do it all, or do none of it. Thats the whole problem here.

People already have a flag. In every game out there PVP is used to fight over objectives, THATS WHAT ITS SUPPOSED TO BE FOR(Mechanically) In Elite because you can take objectives in private and solo removing the need to "direct pvp". So any and every "direct"(cant believe its even come to this) PVP is griefing because you dont need to shoot another ship.

PVP in Elite has lost its definition because of the modes.

Do you guys really think people are going to flag themselves when it comes to objectives? God no. People already use the modes and minmaxed ships to fight eachother removing the need for rebuy, the threat of missions being halted, and the ability to mission stack to the greatest extent because of it.

AGAINST OTHER PLAYERS.

Yeah...I guess you're right! Playing the Man...not the Argument...not cool really!
Apologies to anyone I've insulted!
I guess you're right...Maybe Elite isn't the game for me...Maybe I'm too "Logical" and want an environment which "makes sense" and can't just "let it rip"
Its a shame Elites the only game in town...'cos I always loved a Space Flight/Space Combat Game...

Apologies! I was being a bit of an A-hole really! Enjoy!

Np so far as I am concerned and thank you for your cool response, which immediately restores all cred in my eyes. Repped. I actually regret the wording of my own post in retrospect, which came across as a more harsh put-down than I intended.

Tbh I try to stay out of these kinds of thread myself, partly because they make it difficult for me/us to self-manage. In fact I'm going to unsubscribe from this one now and try to stick to my two preferred topics of combat and engineering mechanics.

See you all in those threads,

At the same time this is exactly what the various game modes are for. Open might be too goofy for you, but there must be other ED communities looking for a more serious experience focused on role-play and stuff like that.

I've had the "Scan, Ram, Boom" scenario at beacons myself, but it's I'm sitting still and the Scanning ship is NPC that rams me and explodes,
and "I" would get a murder count!!! Never could figure that one out, and it's happened several times..

An interesting point. I'd like to know the answer to that question. I routinely ram NPC ships to death and get paid for the kill too in a HazRes. I don't know how this applies to a players ship though.

LOL Those NPC Ships all had a Wanted tag on them. Different scenario.
