As exploration and explorers have been kicked in the family vegetables for 4 years now. and combat related stuff keeps getting updated.every single patch.
They added so much non-combat stuff to discover around Colonia with the 3.1 patch that it's less than a week before 3.2 and we almost certainly still haven't found all of it. None of this stuff was mentioned in pre-3.1 trailers, and it got a minor mention in the patch notes that really underplayed just how much of it there was.

If I'm right based on how much we've found, where we have (and haven't...) found it, and how fast we're discovering it, there's a good chance finding it all will last us until the 3.3 release even if nothing extra gets added in 3.2.

Clearly your post is ironic, for it has been stated, *many* times, that 3.1 and 3.2 are minor updates, 3.0 and 3.3 are the major ones.
Yes. We know from Horizons that two major updates and two minor updates a year plus a few bugfix point releases after each one is roughly the pace we get (e.g. in 2017 we had 2.3 and 2.4 as major and 2.2.03 and 2.3.10 as minor)

Possibly if they were calling this release 3.0.10 and Q4 3.1 expectations would be slightly clearer, though I doubt it would make any actual difference.

3.3 will deliver nothing regarding exploration in 2018. Maybe 30% mining and 20% squadrons at the best case. Focus feedback is dead and exploration is still postponed. FD has currently no clue about managing their big fail. If 3.3 ever come then it will be end of 2019. But they'll stop it before. Product is end of life. The silence is symptomatic.

LOL - you are a card! 4/10 I gave you +1 for using the word symptomatic ;-)

So far they have delivered 3 of 4 promised updates on time. In your case I would check your crystal ball again. And keep your panties on for FF.

Doom, DOOM! Yeah, we've heard all that before. For your information, here's what's coming in 3.3 (from https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/397639-Elite-Dangerous-2018-Roadmap-Regularly-Updated):

  • ~ Chapter Four ~
    3.3 Update (Q4)
    YouTube Timestamp

    Squadrons

    • For our first look at Squadrons we are going to cover the basics of what a Squadron is, how you create or join one and what core functionality a Squadron will provide.
Now, it’s worth mentioning that these are initial ideas and subject to change before the Q4 update (which introduces Squadrons).
    • What is a Squadron?
  • How do I create a Squadron?
  • How do I find/join a Squadron?
  • Can I leave a Squadron?
  • The Squadron hierarchy and privileges:
  • What privileges can the leader set?
  • Squadron communication
  • The Fleet Carrier
  • Squadrons and factions
    Fleet Carriers
    • Squadrons will be able to purchase their own fleet carriers.
    • These are large, mobile, dockable vessels that will act as a base of operations for squadrons.
    • We'll be able to refuel, rearm and respawn at them.
    • Discussion in the Beyond Focus Feedback forum planned at a later date.
    • Dev Comments:

    Powerplay Proposal
    • We’re considering a package of tweaks to Powerplay and we’d like your thoughts on them. Note that this is not a fait accompli, just something we’re investigating.
    • The concept behind these changes is not to completely change Powerplay, but address a few important issues as efficiently and nicely as possible. Some of these changes are subtle, others very significant. The idea is that as a whole they form a rounded update that provides improvements to the core experience of Powerplay.
    • More information: Part 1 / Part 2

    Mining 2.0
    • This update to mining will cover new ways for miners to interact with asteroids and gain resources from them. It’s worth mentioning early that this will be an additive update, we will not be taking away any of the current gameplay for miners. The standard mining laser will maintain its functionality on all asteroids, as will the prospector limpet (although this will also be gaining additional functionality).
    • New stuff:
[*=1]There will be 3 new types of resource “deposits” available to find in rings/belts:
[*=2]Surface – dense areas of material on the surface of particular asteroids, needing to be carefully broken off to recover
[*=2]Sub-surface – high-yield deposits that sit just below the surface of an asteroid, requiring blasting charges to dig out
[*=2]Deep core – an asteroid with a treasure trove of resources at its core, needing to be cracked open to reach
[*=1]Each of these will provide increasingly better rewards/materials as a return for the increase in challenge and time
[*=1]Each of these will be distributed within asteroid fields at a tiered rarity; surface being the most common, sub-surface being less so and deep core being the hardest to find
[*=1]New modules will be available to mine these new deposit types, allowing us to introduce new gameplay based around each
[*=1]Discovering and interacting with these deposits will be aided by using a new HUD mode called “Analysis Mode” and a new active scanner
[*=1]Finally, the Prospector Limpet will be getting a small update within analysis mode, to help locate and highlight areas of interest on asteroids
The idea is to flesh out the role of the miner allowing room to specialise as well as giving options for the more casual mining participant.
    • Hunting Asteroids
To understand the new concepts, we’ll run through the flow of finding the asteroids with these new deposit types on. They will not be entirely visible when first entering an asteroid field, especially at range, and in most cases they will require some amount of investigation to locate.
      [*=1]Analysis mode

    [*=1]Medium range active scanner
    [*=1]Prospector limpet changes
    [*=1]Extraction Process
    [*=1]Deposit type: surface
    [*=1]Deposit type: sub-surface
    [*=1]Deposit type: deep core
    Exploration
    • Sensor Probes (launched from the Detailed Surface Scanner, which will retain its old functionality as well)
[*=1]Images: Planetary Scan / Planetary Ring Scan
[*=1]Sensor Probes will travel in Supercruise
[*=1]When sent towards planets or rings, the probes will follow a partial guided orbit
[*=1]They have Supercruise assisted flight to allow them to arc towards the target body
[*=1]When close to the surface, they will deploy a complicated sensor array which will start collating data from a large area
[*=1]Essentially paint coverage on the body, then the data is all fed back to us
[*=1]Probes are affected by gravity, which will allow us to do trickshots and be more efficient with covering the surface
      [*=1]Probes can be synthesized
[*=1]Mechanical rewards for doing a scan better
[*=1]Every crew member will be able to use it at the same time, including the helm
      [*=1]Appropriate rewards for crew members
    • Eliminate the need to eyeball planets. Be better informed before we travel to a planet.
    • Interesting sites on planets will be marked or mentioned in the Codex (e.g. Thargoid imprints, Guardian relics, fields of brain trees)
    • The galaxy will be seeded with new unique things to find, split in different categories (Geologic, Biologic, Phenomena)
[*=1]These discoveries can be individual things or the environment itself
[*=1]These can be beneficial or harmful
      [*=1]Video: Cloud & Lightning Phenomenon
    • The galaxy will be divided in regions to help us plot, locate and log discoveries in the Codex
    • Focus Feedback Discussion planned to start on the 18th of June (Postponed)

    The Codex
    • An archive that logs our exploration achievements and acts as a repository for game lore. It will log our discoveries and will also act as an encyclopedia, giving more depth and context to the things we find. And also possibly hinting at other things that we might be able to find out there.
    • Focus Feedback Discussion planned to start on the 18th of June (Postponed)

    Planetary Tech
    • Improvements to the scatter rocks system, by adding a bigger variety of sizes and scales to them.
    • Improving ambient effects, planetary phenomena, volumetric effects and vapour.
    • Video: New ice shaders
    • Images: Frontier Expo 2017 Concept Art

    Improved Lighting Model

While I do understand that the the wait for more meaningful gameplay other than just more and more shooting trinkets has been indeed very long and frustrating, we have to be fair and acknowledge Beyond has been hitting the announced release dates so far, so there's nothing so far that indicates Q4 will miss the mark or be postponed. If it will be worth the wait or not, it's a future discussion.

Thanks for sharing - I'd always hoped the two Elite Meets I went to at PAX would have something like this but sadly they didn't :-(

I wish there was more focus on non-combat content, but any new content is welcome. No complaints from me, since the Beyond update is a free update.

Clearly your post is ironic, for it has been stated, *many* times, that 3.1 and 3.2 are minor updates, 3.0 and 3.3 are the major ones.

There is plenty of literature on how adding 'small gifts' to a larger gift actually makes the recipient feel less happy than if they had just received the large gift. Likewise four smaller gifts doesn't equal one large gift. Perception-wise FD should have released Horizons as one update, and bundled Beyond into one update. Which they dont, which is why I predicted ages ago already that people would freak out when the small things arrive. Not releasing anything would have had a more positive effect.

In any case, I get new SLF, new ship, stuff to find and new modules, so I will have some additional free fun while feeling sorry for people locked in their own frustrated mind. :p

But if they don't release anything, people saying game is dying.

Oh wait...they are saying it anyway :)
