I find profanity filters considerably more offensive than profanity.
First off, it's pretty useless. No one ever misunderstands what someone is trying to say. The filter only serves to give false positives. That is to say, if someone is using profanity, you know from context that they are. If the filter censors something that was not profanity, it creates ambiguity. It's useless.
The problem with profanity is the intent and meaning behind it and the filter does absolutely nothing to filter said intent, and there are, for most things considered profane, a majority of situations where the intent behind the words is NOT malicious, and it's just a part of normal language.
Plus, for a game that is billed as "Dangerous," it's pretty annoying that it's assumed the players can't handle a four letter word or two.
