3.3 summary

Might be my imagination or my eyes ajusting, but did they turn down the mad lighting a bit in the little patch?

Radio chatter is a nice addition
New objectives added to CZ's... not bad
New Lighting looks good
Latest Mamba tweak is a step in the right direction
The Squadrons add-on is a nice touch including the instant squad-mate recognition matrix ;)
Couldn't care less about board flipping so fts

I am not through with trying each new feature yet, but so far, my first impressions:

The ship UI:
A fresh look. Maybe in the comms menu the tabs for chat and wing stuff could have stayed next to each other, but else I really like it.
Organizing Friends has gotten much better! Being able to have several chat-channels is good.

Integrated DiscoScanner, new scanning mechanic, Orrery:

A module slot is freed up! Plus exploring finally has some kind of gameplay. And with a DSS minigame we can find persistand geological and some other pois. Very Nice!
And, I didn't aks for it, but there is a orrery thingy in the maps. Good one too I guess.

Squadrons:
Oh yes, I like it! I can join a player group and have a tag that shows it. There is a squadron chat and some more info about supported factions and stuff. Also there are some high score ladders to be contesting with other squadrons.

Codex:
I don't care very much about the "sticker album". But to have a detailed ingame journal is... Nice.

Passanger Cabins slot restriction is gone:

I can play with my Orca more. Nice!

New Combat Zones:
Finally some kind of operation mini goals. Might need some minor bug-fixing around the CZ mechanics, but it's an imporvement. And the NPC are a bit more of a challange. Maybe they ram a bit too mucht. But else I like it! AND: I can see who is fighting whom from SC! Finally!! :D

SC:
space is full with megaships, installations and stuff. I am not sure what I can do with these things yet, but nice.

Night and Nightvision:
finally. A nice touch.

The graphics:
Maybe a bit too much glare and HDR or whatever it is that messes with lighnting, also messed up milky-way coloration. But not a real biggie for me. But honestly maybe I liked old graphis a bit better.

Minor Factions, BGS:
I have never played the minor factions BGS stuff much, so I have no idea of the details. But sure the graphical presentation is a major improvement.

Board Flipping gone:
really? I didn't notice anything. But hell, I never cared.

I am still looking forward to test:
- Scenarios (where are they?)
- Mining
- Thargoid Incursion
- New Ships.
Well I haven't even tested all of the old new ships yet. Krait Phantom might be interesting for me...

edit
qol-features I am still missing:
* auto sell query (limpets / cargo) when changing to ship with no or smaller cargospace.
* sort and filter (size/alphabetically/location) in modules inventory
* lot's of UI and gameplay improvements for powerplay
* optional realtime, online only, auto-jump pilot with optional automated fuel-scoop, for easy travelling through the bubble and surroundings (maybe only useable on routes with [self-]disovered starsystems) - yes I want to be able to read a book whilst my auto-jump computer is doing all that jumping and scooping for me.

edit edit
another minor gripe, the planetary grid in analyze mode:
plantes showing with grid-overlay when in analyze mode. I'd love to have an option to turn this off and have a naturla few. This artivical grid-pattern is only necessary when surface scanning.

all fine. better UI, all good here!

The scenarios are at the installations, megaships, uss and such. Scan a megaship/installation and a scenario might trigger.

I love this game and i appreciate the devs work that is constantly put into it.
Otherwise i would be playing something else... obviously.

This. And if I was playing something else, I wouldn't bother to post here about an update I hadn't played.

I think just a little, although next to a star it can get a little intense :) What appears to have been done is that the colour-wash effect decreases with distance from the star. I think the strong colour wash effect a little odd in comparison to 3.2 but less than in the beta.
