3447 CG is a ghost-town in Open

This surprises me. I see very few, if any CMDR's in system every time I pop in.

Has the majority of the playerbase defected to Solo or Pvt Groups?

Hell, almost everywhere I go for that matter, is devoid of fellow CMDR's... gettin' lonely out here!

There is no reason to commit to the CG outside of Mobius/Solo other than PvP or suicidal PvE players, unfortunately .-.

CGs have turned into PvP zone and player piracy got killed by Robigo, so yea, no reason to be there other than PvP.

This was predicted months ago... Open has become the defacto PvP mode, and the 3447 CG is all about space truckin' so people want to get into the top 10 in peace. I bet that in a combat CG you'll see more players in Open.

From what I've read, it is because people see it as a place for easy victims, finding people to attack, naturally people don't enjoy that so yeah, I could easily imagine people doing something to avoid having to deal with people specifically there to annoy.

Actually, in my experience instancing is the main issue here, not the amount of players actually there. Often you would see almost no people for an hour, and suddenly you are in an instance with 10 or more commanders. I am quite sure the system is always highly populated, but in the last few months instancing has been worse than ever in highly populated systems.

Due to the lack of proper crime and punishment.

And this causes a vicious cycle bundled with lack of proper crime and punishment and consequently kills off player piracy along the way and causes CGs in open to be pure PKing.

Meh. The vast majority of player interactions I've had in Open have been very positive. There's been a few shots fired in anger, sure... but Open is where this game truly shines.

Every single person on my friends list is from Open, not from some website Pvt group. Good folks are out there! I consider myself one of 'em.

I fly primarily in Open because I'm not afraid I suppose. If there's going to be shooting, I'll give as good as I get. But that scenario has been so rare in my ED experiences...

I have not been participating in CG's much lately but when I do I will usually do them in Group mode just to avoid the gang bangers looking for a soft target like a trading vessel with thin shields. I'm not really into being cannon fodder like that. And BH CG's are just easier in Solo IMO. I'm not there for social interaction or target competitions. :D

That being said I spend the balance of my time in Open running missions or smuggling runs and such.

Suicidal open player reporting in :D

I must confess one of my favorite things in this game is jumping into trading CG systems, infested with hostiles, and dodge / escape pirate hordes en route to station while they try to have a nibble at my ships. I've been doing this for so long I could probably write a book about it :D

Its like swimming across a river full of crocodiles, with a backpack full of roasted chickens. I find it much more exciting and thrilling than actual combat. I particularly appreciate the chat insults they sometimes fire at me when I'm going back to supercruise.

I think its the main reason why I participate on the trading CGs...

Anyway, I have also deserted this particular CG, its been going on for too long, and its not particularly interesting. I've been canyon racing in a eagle at Ariel instead.

I don't know, I ran it earlier today and there was a stready stream of CMDR's coming and going. Had a discussion with a few of them over the state of bounty hunting while hanging out in the station.

Can we stop with the 'afraid' please, it drives me mad every time I see it.

Things I'm afraid of:

Heights (or more accurately falling off them)
Losing my job
Trump winning the US election
Dying alone

Things I'm not afraid of:

My pixels blowing up

I was doing my runs for the trade CG in (unsurprisingly) a trade ship. Lightweight bulkheads, only three pulse lasers to take care of pesky npc interdictions, no chaff, no heatsinks, cargo space only. The fact is that if I fly that ship in open and get instanced with any of the pvp crowd I'm either dead, or I high wake out. However since I have to get to a specific station in a specific system, high waking out solves nothing at all because I have to go back and the same thing will happen.

It doesn't matter how good or bad a pilot I am, I will not survive an attack by one or more players flying dedicated pvp combat builds in a trade ship. I'm not 'scared' of it happening, I simply accept that it would happen. That's without even considering the 'hilarious' trolls looking to get the station to open up on players as they try to rush in. I simply don't want to blow 20m+ credits on a couple of rebuys. I'm not flying a ship that is remotely equipped to deal with combat.

So why would I do it? What possible incentive do I have?

As I've been saying for a while now. Having a realistic security response to crime built into the game would put an end to most open vs solo and group infiltration drama. If real life were like Elite you'd see gangs beating up people in front of the supermarket with no police response.

Well that may be so but I love trading in open come what may but the CG in LHS 3447 is glitched by a bug that seems to cause another station to be rendered that makes the CG unplayable

I was truckin' in open, but then I finally hit the 60M credits and offered myself a long-desired python. And since I don't have enough to afford the insurance cost yet, I'd prefer not to be the target of a sociopathic maniac in an Anie... :D

Heeeey now... calm down. Here... have some dip.

Don't read so much into that singular word, mmnkay? My current 'trade' ship has 2 Huge guns on it. That doesn't mean jack vs the proverbial wing of CMDR baddies. I know this. I stand to lose a cred or two should I get popped. Or three.. or four... but I digress! I was just lamenting the lack of fellow CMDR interaction is all. Forgive me for using the word "afraid". My intent of this post wasn't to anger you or anyone. I just miss those good ole' days where you saw actual people on a regular basis.

Noooo!
Don't buy it unless you have the insurance! One slip and it's Sidewinder city.

Well, I had a couple of really close calls, while trying to get stuff into Fisher Terminal, or what it's name was, a couple of weeks ago.
Nothing was dead then. :)
