Feel free to discuss non-ED related Rift thingys in here. :D

Thought it might be nice to have a list of Games either ready or a work in progress for those lucky enough to have a Oculus Rift.

So, feel free to add any games/programs etc that you think are interesting or great fun etc, give the a review as well if you wish.

Obviously Elite D is the greatest offering out there. :D

Please, however before posting remember this is a family friendly forum, so no naughty stuff. ;)

A few to start the ball rolling.

1) VRspacewalk

In this virtual reality simulation, you are in a spacesuit making a virtual spacewalk in earth space. Find your way to the ISS (International Space Station – thanks NASA) .
Enjoy the beautiful view on earth from outer space.
We mapped all the hires (day and night time) textures provided by NASA onto the earth sphere so the view is really breath taking. When the earth turns to the night side, the city lights switch on.

Totally blown away by the immersivness of this demo, headphones are a must to really feel you are floating in space.

2) Star Wars the battle of Endor.

This is an x-wing simulator based on the space battle in Return Of The Jedi. The objectives are based on the sequences from that movie. Fly around the massive capital ships, fight off waves of TIE fighters, take out Star Destroyers, including the 20-kilometer flagship Executor, skim the surface of the 160-km diameter Death Star, and even fly into it to knock out the main reactor.

Not tried this one yet but it looks pretty good.

3) Helix Rollercoaster.

Helix is Liseberg's - one of the most reknown amusement park in Europe - largest investment ever, in a single attraction. The new roller coaster is longer and faster than any other coaster in the park. We've tested it and their claim to construct one of the best roller coasters in the world is definitely true.

The track is almost 1,4 km (4500 feet) long and the ride lasts for two minutes! Along the track are two launches where the coaster accelerates using Linear Synchronous Motors (LSM). It will be the second multi-launch coaster in Europe. The ride will include seven inversions, three airtime hills and plenty of drops, twists and turns.

With speeds up to 100 km/h (62 mph) this new coaster is the fastest one in the park and the most technologically advanced one. It’s manufactured by the German company Mack Rides Gmb.

Hold onto your stomachs on this one, I'm still feeling queasy.

Very good demo on what the rift is capable of.

I take it everyone has Half Life 2. I've just managed to get to the swamp skimmer. Those jumps are fantastic fun. Are there any car driving demos anyone can recommend?

Ok a little bit of fun - Oculus CV1 release date....

Just for fun, let's see who can get nearest to the release date: my estimation is 20/9/2015

Your rig / performance ratio

Ok, so Beta 3 has put by performance in the toilet, but I seem to be ok in Beta 2. Hopefully 3.01 helps, but I thought it would be good to create a thread where hardware and the performance gains of that hardware are illustrated. So can we get Rifters to post their specs and their permanence below:

Rig:
i7 -4770k @3.5
16BG Ram (not OC)
GTX 770 (not OC).
DK2, Extended mode.

Settings: Low
Res: 1080 (no SS)

Beta 2 inside stations: dips to 50 FPS, but pretty stable around 65-70
Beta 2 general space. 75 FPS rock solid.

Beta 3 inside staions: 50FPS, dips to 30.
Beta 3 general space 60 FPS but with fluctuations.

I'm thinking of moving up to a GTX970, maybe even 2 for Super Sampling. It'd be interesting to see how you chaps fair.

In 3.00 last night I was getting a solid 75fps using extended mode. Testing Direct mode started ok at 60-75fps but then collapsed to 6fps......

Rig:
i7 -4770k @3.5
32BG Ram (not OC)
2 x GTX 760 (not OC).
DK2

All settings are on maximum.

I did notice some pronounced lag on occasion but I think this is a known bottle neck.

Alos had to swap my cards round to resolve a blue/black flicker on normal monitor so will be testing tonight. Have installed Afterburner to confirm both cards are being used.

Irrelevant post - I don't use Oculus. Didn't notice it in OP until after I posted, oopsies!

Are you using DirectToRift mode? In this mode you're capped at your monitors refresh rate which might be 60 Hz. If so then try extended mode for a far smoother experience. And be sure to disable SSAO, blur, AA and set shadows to low or medium.

I think you have this reversed. DirectToRift mode bypasses your monitor and should provide you with 75Hz. This is one of the main features of directtorift.

I could not get the OC working on my main rig (4-way SLI Titans) so I am building a LAN rig with a single GPU (TitanZ). Will this game work with Direct mode for the OR? Can't get extended mode to work with other games at all.

hello there!
i5 4690k
win7 64
8gb ram
SLI 2* gtx970 with 344.48 driver
DK2 extented mode (direct wont work and crash ED) with 0.4.3 sdk

BETA2 perfs:
settings medium with SSAA*2
deep space: 75fps solid
station: 75 fps with some rare dips to 70ish

BETA3 perf:
settings medium with SSAA*2
deep space 75 fps solid execpt near some planets
station: 60ish fps (sometime 50+)
note: i still got the no shadow bug somtimes on outpost, and there are some area that are really too dark comparing to beta2

My guess is we will get some sort of limited CV1 beta by Sept 2015 and then depending how that goes AND how powerful the next gen GPUs are, we will have a full release some time in the next 12 months after that.
