3rd and 4th fire group buttons.

In multi-crew the gunner has 4 fire groups to assign, there anyway we can get that in normal play? I would like to have my lasers on fire 1, multicannons on 2, my discover scanner on A, while I have my huge beam laser on B..

We going to get that any time soon?

This is not a problem worth talking about...just assign a handy button to 'next fire group'. Even if you have 5 different set-ups your muscle memory will get you to any one in a fraction of a second after a little practice.

This. :)

.... more so because Frontier have stuck to the two-trigger combat / HUD design from the outset and have clearly stated that it's not going to change.

We have had countless threads on this. The whole HUD is designed around two fire groups. There is no real space on it for more. The UI is designed around two. Re-engineering it would be a major change. Ain't gonna happen.

Left right, top bottom. There is room in the HUD for 4 groups.

I think we need more threads on this. FD said they will only work on features people are interested in. I'm interested in having 4 fire groups.

It's down to a lot of things, but keep in mind that while everyone has two fire buttons, not everyone has three or more. Keeping it this keep is an attempt to keep the playing field level and preventing one player from having a real-world tech advantage over another.

This argument especially has been rehashed ad nauseum, and I always laugh at it. You have to have 4 buttons mapped anyway. Two for trigger 1 and 2, two for moving forward and backwards through firegroups. Though you could probably get away with one, only cycling in one direction. These buttons would be freed up for trigger 3 and 4. I doubt that there are many players who need more than 4 triggers total, eliminating the need for firegroups entirely for the most part.

I would love an extra fire group or 2.

that would save me a few keybinds as I use the keybinds for chaff/ECM/SCB/Heatsink etc.

I could then have 1 or 2 keybinds for "utility 1 & utility 2"

I'm willing to bet my keyboard has one or two more buttons on it than a HOTAS...

Let this die. It has been brought up several times in the past and been categorically and unequivocally ruled out by FD for many reasons.

The fact that numerous commentators still confuse fire groups with the hallowed extra fire buttons these threads are actually about perhaps says a lot about their understanding of the perfectly logical and practical weapon system management that FD have employed...

Anyone got the beating a dead horse gif?

You see when you press fire one or two your avatar presses one of the TWO buttons on the flight stick? Yeah don't think it'll change

X52 user here, all buttons are mapped and absolutely required, I don't have 2 more fire buttons to map. This will easily annoy more people than it will satisfy

So many forum goers seem to want to be playing a different game, imo

I'm not into combat at all really, but mouse wheel tap left/right does that trick for me, and not only in ED. I want to hug the bloke who originally came up with mouse wheel tapping, it's brilliant.
It's as easy and care free as i can imagine, surely Joystick/HOTAS jockeys have similar options.

Missiles.
I have trigger one for main weapons - usually energy and maybe c4 multicannons.
On my Warthog I have the speedbrake on the throttle for constant second group. This allows me to fire without holding the button forever.

I could however have a third to fire missiles. Yes we can all use groups, but why need them if there was another trigger.
Hey ho.
