4 New Naval Ranks, Any New Perks?

Lol, I'm on the phone to Buckingham palace as I type this, to see if they want anything delivered, just on the off chance you know...

Are there any minimum Pilot's Federation for these new ranks? Can you make it to Admiral without being Combat Elite, or more specifically at Competent?

I love this game. This, is one aspect that has me scratching my noggin. The cat is out of the bag, the can is open and worms are wriggling all over the floor and they can't be stuffed back in. Quite simply, I just don't understand these ranks.
I fully understand the Elite ranking in the various "professions". I understand the friendly/allied side of things (though really not sure that the disconnect from the pledging of allegiance to powers does anything other than hurt my head).

I understand the need for ranking within the various navies. I just don't get the acceleration up to silly titles like this in a short space of time, nor how being "king" is really anything other than just silly. I don't understand how you can be senior in both, I don't understand how you can be hostile to a faction, yet a King within it. I don't follow how you, as King have nothing more than a ticket to be able to buy a shinier ship.

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but so would a pile of horse manure - looks like poo, smells like poo, calling it premium fertiliser doesn't stop it being poo. 'tis silly. What am I King of? Where are my subjects? Can I knight anyone? Where's my jester?

I can imagine a space e-mail from the Empire:
"To: Your Royal Highness, King Vin
From: The master of the Roll, Empire HQ
Subject: Your Kingship

Your Majesty,

I regret to inform you that as a result of an overabundance of Kings within Imperial Space, we have removed your name from the roll of honour within the Empire. You many no longer use the honorifics associated with your rank. May we politely request that you return the Crown and Sceptre at your earliest convenience. It should also be noted that your access to the Royal Heads aboard station has been revoked.

You are reminded that public dissent, whether in person, or on a Galactic Internet Forum will be met with scorn and you, at no point will be missed should you perform the popular modern action known as "rage quitting".

Yours humbly,

Admiral Lord Bob
Master of the Roll
Junior Adjunct to the 3rd division of bureaucrats
Imperial Senate"

Reminds me of some Kipling:

"The country isn't half worked out because
they that governs it won't let you touch it. They spend all their blessed
time in governing it, and you can't lift a spade, nor chip a rock, nor
look for oil, nor anything like that without all the Government
saying--'Leave it alone and let us govern.' Therefore, such as it is, we
will let it alone, and go away to some other place where a man isn't
crowded and can come to his own. We are not little men, and there is
nothing that we are afraid of except Drink, and we have signed a Contrack
on that. _Therefore_, we are going away to be Kings."

"Kings in our own right," muttered Dravot.

.....

'The Contrack only lasted till such time as we was Kings; and Kings we
have been these months past,' says Dravot, weighing his crown in his hand.
'You go get a wife too, Peachey--a nice, strappin', plump girl that'll
keep you warm in the winter. They're prettier than English girls, and we
can take the pick of 'em

King? Imo it should peak at prince... being called a king of nothing would almost feel derogatory >.>
I guess when I'm made a prince of the Empire, I'll stop there ;D
