4GB vs 2GB video card

It is very strange but I was having the same issues with low textures loading in certain areas. But since I moved my quest away from the populated bubble, I'm operating at sothis since yesterday. Since yesterday all textures inside and outside the cockpit are loading correctly. The game runs great. I have a gtx760 2GB.

No graphical glitches. Using windows 7 with a 6 GB Gefore 980Ti and an i7 processor.
Runni8ng at 1920x1080 with 2x supersampling.
I did a quick and rough test:
Station: 1.9 - 2.1 GB in use.
Space: Around 1 GB in use.
Landed on planet: 2.4 GB in use.
SRV on planet: 2.5 GB in use.

Just over 5GB of system RAM being used whilst on the surface.

That's very useful info DR, cheers!

I usually get around 5GB VRAM usage in Horizons.

2GB is not enough for today's games, even Frontier. My previous GPU, bought early 2013, already had 4GB.

Was about to say the same :p

Personally would not go down below 6gb anymore. A thing to think about is that nvidia is releasing their new series soon

i5 2550k OC 4.7Ghz GTX 770 2GB. 40fps onm planet full ultra - HD. Yes, have the same thing, but not everytime. It's somehow depends on CUDA and Terrain work settings not a VRAM. But yes. The most important thing for games today is VRAM. And i have to pe prepared for a VR, so i will take a 2 980ti latter or may be something new..

Hi folks, anyone out there using a 4GB (or above) GPU with Horizons, and are you getting the low rez textures glitch? The one that affects bits of the cockpit, the hangar in stations/space ports, and asteroids?
I'm currently using a nvidia 760 2GB and I'm thinking this might be down to not enough video memory.

Depends. They might. They can however also be caused by a glitch in the settings. When your loading screen (rotating ship) looks odd (somehow like the raster being fragged up) it's not memory, it's the glitch. Reset to whatever you use in settings and it's gone. I have an 8G card at it had that issue ... caused by screwed up settings.

Well folks, took the plunge and upgraded to the 4GB 470. No more crappy low rez texture issues, plus a HUGE increase in frame rates on the surface of planets and especially starports! Happy days! This means my core i5 2500, motherboard and 16GB RAM can last another couple of years. Yay!
