4K at 60fps

Just fetched a samsung ju7500 55" 4k curved led. Lets see how it compares to my plasma. Open buy so just to return if not up to expectations :)

Does anyone have any experience from running game at 4K resolution? I am thinking of buying a 55 inch 4K TV. Got 2 970 MSI and a 4930k at 4.5 ghz. Would it manage 60fps all the time?
Thanks.

I'm on a 4k monitor at 60fps but my single nVidia 970 can only cope at 2560x1440. It's still way better than HD.

I run at 4K with a 970 and high-ish settings on everything but shadows. I get a constant 60 fps apart from near large stations.

If you're buying a 4K screen make sure it can support a true 60Hz refresh rate at 4K. Also check you get a later HDMI (1.2?) that can support 4K at 60Hz.

Im surprised that this 60hz refresh rate took so long to pop up as a point to keep in mind!
Like Evoelise said, be sure that your screen, monitor or tv supports 4k @ 60hz refresh rate or the image will suffer to the point where the game may not be enjoyable.
HDMI 2.0 will support 4k@60hz over HDMI and DP 1.4 will support 4k@60hz. I do not think that any other HDMI spec supports 4k@60hz. HDMI 1.4 and lower only support 4k@30hz.
If your monitor or tv does not have this ability(ies) than you're robbing yourself.

Resurrected: 4K@60Hz in the 2.x Horizons generation (plus thoughs on RGBW 4:2:x options?)

Preface: New poster, but not a new player ... resurrecting an old thread. Let me know if I should start a new one instead.

  • Q1: Horizons 2.x 4K Performance - Will a GTX 980 Ti 6GiB still push 4K@60Hz consistently? Or does 2.0+ really taxi a 980 Ti 6GiB that much more?
  • Q2: Low-cost "4K" RGBW Output - Anyone gaming on one of those low-cost RGBW options? If so, what do you think? Have you compared it to a 1440p? Or at least 1080p?

Details ...I'm currently playing on a low-end, 1080p 42" LG TV. I started with a GTX 660 Ti, then moved to a GTX 970 and am now up to a GTX 980 Ti in preparation for the eventual jump to VR in a few months. I've played on a 27" 1440p LCD monitor once, and enjoyed the increased resolution and sharpness over 1080p.

The price for HDMI 2.0 + HDCP 2.2 TVs keeps coming down, and now there are those low-cost RGBW 4:2:x options for <<$300 in 40-something inches. The GTX 980 Ti already offers HDMI 2.0, so I'm seriously considering getting one. I would never use a RGBW "4K" TV as a computer monitor. In fact, I have a true 4K DP 1.2 monitor for computer usage. But this is 100% for gaming.

Thanx in advance!
