Problem with open is players get their rocks off killing other players. They attack because they know that their is another person that will be mad/sad/unhappy that they just lost their spaceship. Easy fix to this is make it so you can't tell who is a human or a NPC. It would eliminate most of these blood thirsty attacks. Then open would have a lot more people in it
See below.
Mechanic or not, it isn't a glorified thing to do as considered by majority of open players (I hope).
A multipurpose has enough chances to escape. Or do you call a all D-rated, or maybe even all E-rated ship multipurpose? Even if not, I see no problem in paying a rebuy once a while, it isn't that big money.
Where's my god mode button? :S
I have neither the time nor the enthusiasm to explain 'play' to someone showing either a lack.of intellect or imagination
those who can't see that and expect Elite Space to resemble the high street of a well to do English Village circa 1950
Have neither the time and enthusiasm...or merely haven't the ability? I mean here's your opportunity to explain to ALL these foolish carebears, menu-loggers, PVE/Solo Players WHY attacking CMDRs for no "in-game" reason is a valid playstyle...SURELY that's just TOO good an opportunity to pass up...particularly for someone that allegedly "relishes" confrontation....
Are there any Historical or Geographic locales were random unannounced Murder of individuals for no racial/political/financial/territorial/religious motive..without a pre-exsisting personal relationship with no warning i8s/was prevalent? Again...feel free to direct us to examples...
"Personal narrative" [haha]
For ASPX you need A rated shield engineered for thermal resistance and 2 boosters enginnered for resistance as well.
Dirty drive G5 will give you close 500m/s boost, the fastest fdl boosts around 570m/s.
Mod the hull for light weight to give you better jump range and speed.
Again, I’m getting lots of tips and tricks for surviving in open with an engineered ship. The fact is I was engineering the ship. As in it wasn’t Engineered yet. So again it seems like the criteria for surviving open is maximally optimizes engineered ship or you’re toast. Thanks horizons.
I don't think the OP is upset (at least, he is staying in open). The point is to highlight the brainlessness of this behaviour.
It's a fictional setting. It doesn't need to be like an extant present day culture
Biggest life saver for an unengineerd ship, double tapping that FSD button and performing an emergency drop to normal space. Has saved my bacon on many occasions.
It seems VERY strange that this "fictional culture" which seems oh so very similar in every way...politically, economically, morally, legally to the present day has evolved this one cultural wrinkle...where a significant proportion of Pilots are prepared to risk life and million credit ships on random violent interactions with no financial/political/influence based benefits...
Surely if SUCH a thing were likely there'd be at least one current or historical example you can think of....hey you know what...if thats too difficult...feel free to forgo the historical analogies...if that's a dry well for you and merely layout an entirely fictional but internally consistent narrative for how that might happen...

You don't need any shields. They're only to save you from damage in the station. as soon as yous witch on SR, they go switch off anyway. You don't need any hull reinforcement, weapons, chaff or anything. You don't even need to be a good pilot. Here's me playing with them in a Sidewinder. These guys are the best PvP guys, and they couldn't get me. I was only shooting them for fun. If I had turned and run immediately, they would never have landed a shot. A sidewinder isn't as good at interdicting as an Imperial eagle.

Alas, I haven't got the time to explain
I don't need to give you the example
