Been playing in Open since launch. This still hasn't happened to me. What am I doing wrong?
Why don't you just escape or fight back? You can get away 99% of the time without resorting to cheating.
Then play in solo or mobius, I have no issues with PvE only players if that's what they enjoy but playing in open and cheating cannot be approved. I am no fan of murder hobos but Fdev has stated they are a valid play style.
Over 1000 hours in open, I've never been attacked by a player, including many CGs. I think I must be living a charmed life.
The current Beta is a different story - what a gank fest lol!
actually, there WAS an anecdote in this thread about someone who was a good friend with a wife kids and professional job. But put him in front of any MMO and he turned into (and I quote) “a complete Bell End”I'm open to being corrected...feel free to explain to me how a mature, balanced, socially-well adjusted individual would choose to attack with no communication (or no substantive communication) another CMDR that offers them no-in game benefit (monetary/cargo/PP/advancing their PC-Minor Faction etc) AND no "meaningful gaming experience (PvP against a combat equipped ship)...
I can't contextualise one...to me it seems most likely the action of someone either actually or merely emotionally immature OR acting out a frustration (financial/employment/residential situation, relationship/lack of relationship, bullied/lack of attention/perceived lack of respect) or perhaps low self-esteem issues etc etc
But I COULD be wrong...feel free to explain it to me
No he did not, he logged off using the menu. Which is, according to Frontier, a graceful way of exiting the game. In other words, as much game as the yolo crowd clubbing seals.

OP, are you allied with a Power?
For the first time in over two years I play in open with my main account...
Very first supercruise. Interdicted by a ferdelance whom shall remain unnamed.
I had no cargo, was in a lightly fitted asp.
No chat, no RP just instant death with beams and PA.
went from 4km to about 500m distance less than 10 seconds, so super engineered.
luckly less than 1m rebuy.
5 minutes.
Real Nice.
Just because you won't get a game ban for it does not mean it isn't cheating. The PvP community does not care if it's a task kill or menu log. It will still get you on the EliteCombatLoggers subreddit and added to the master KOS list (which is searchable on most pvp discords)--and then you will be ganked quite often.

So you see. What you’re saying now is non pew pew crowd are denied access to the mmo part of the game. I.e. forced to live in solitary confinement with no (little) human interaction.
Don’t mention the 20.000 Mobius players. Most of them joined years ago and no longer play.
Why do the shooters get to interact with every other player in open but not anyone else?
There REALLY needs to be a non PvP open.
Just shooting the breeze and possibly looking forward to the new the advances in security structures and systems. Can I ask why? It sounds like you expected a foregone conclusion; and then get to tut-tut the outcome. I am sorry for your loss, but I'm not sure what you were trying to achieve, where you were or what you were doing. It's like none of that mattered. It possibly might have.
Lesson learned: Avoid Open like a lot lizard with open sores.
Oh. well... a subredit.. that's a reason to always let pieces of.... blow you up.
Reddit is worthless.
I've decided that if I'm in a ship with less than 1m rebuy, I'll play in open only.
This true: I get a feeling when I drop into a system and flick through the radar targets and a holo-wing turns in my direction.Keep at it. Before too long you wont even get the issue any more. Sixth sense and all that.![]()
Not bad, not bad at all. There will be salt from those Harmless Annie grinders, who can't pull anything.I have an idea. How about the devs fix this problem by only allowing an interdiction if both opposing players are equally matched / reputation.

within 3 ranks, just like the point scoring system for combat ranking; maybe?
