Been playing in Open since launch. This still hasn't happened to me. What am I doing wrong?

So you see. What you’re saying now is non pew pew crowd are denied access to the mmo part of the game. I.e. forced to live in solitary confinement with no (little) human interaction.
Don’t mention the 20.000 Mobius players. Most of them joined years ago and no longer play.
Why do the shooters get to interact with every other player in open but not anyone else?
There REALLY needs to be a non PvP open.

actually, there WAS an anecdote in this thread about someone who was a good friend with a wife kids and professional job. But put him in front of any MMO and he turned into (and I quote) “a complete Bell End”
I would imagine that being married, he has a lot of repressed rage and potential feeling of helplessness, which expresses themselves in his game play.
Just because you won't get a game ban for it does not mean it isn't cheating. The PvP community does not care if it's a task kill or menu log. It will still get you on the EliteCombatLoggers subreddit and added to the master KOS list (which is searchable on most pvp discords)--and then you will be ganked quite often.

Absolutely not. PP is just another type kind of grind to pick up exclusive gear. I try to avoid pointless, boring gameplay as much as possible, except the main game ranks, which I consider “score”
It maybe the time zone I live in, but played in open for 6 months straight, including CG's and only encountered a handful of players. I prefer Solo or sometimes private groups these days, as it is more stable experience for me and my crap internet connection and distance from the servers. I did an experiment once at a CG. In open there where just two CMDRs. I then mode swapped to mobius, where I encountered a field of hollow boxes on my radar. Seems like many others have encountered a similar situation in open as OP.
Lesson learned: Avoid Open like a lot lizard with open sores.

Can I ask why? It sounds like you expected a foregone conclusion; and then get to tut-tut the outcome. I am sorry for your loss, but I'm not sure what you were trying to achieve, where you were or what you were doing. It's like none of that mattered. It possibly might have.
Because this is the game David Braben wanted to create. He wanted a dangerous galaxy, he made that your weapons are never disabled, he made open all PvP world where you csn attack anyone anywhere anytime. This is the game and its great, I wouldn't touch it if it was any different.
Its wild west slaughter house with non consensual unbalanced and outnumbered PvP fights, Fdev wanted it this way. That's why there is no open PVE or pvp zones or PvP switches. Its all for a reason. Accept it or play Space Engine.
Just shooting the breeze and possibly looking forward to the new the advances in security structures and systems.

I have an idea. How about the devs fix this problem by only allowing an interdiction if both opposing players are equally matched / reputation.
