5 Things Everyone Knows Except for You

Know what it took me fracking 1400 bloody hours to finally realize?

Its easier and almost better to play on the xbox controller than it is on a hotas setup. Its all about the menus. No stick throttle arrangement beats the buttons and pads.. its honestly a huge relief.

Also the default curves setup on the analog sticks makes you turn like a ninja dancing over a still lake compared to axis and twist (i dont use yaw into roll).

Yeah learn something new every day.

Yay! A new GG vid! I actually just recently re-remembered the integrity thing. I forgot about it for awhile. Didn't know about the landing gear thing. I've always used FA off to get unstuck.

It's called the Dunning-Kruger effect, and it's a problem for all humans, because we all have areas we're less proficient in than someone else, and it's an easy mindset to fall into in any of those areas, unless we're careful.

Dunning-Kruger effect on display about the Dunning-Kruger effect. o_O Dunning-Kruger-ception, or is this more Xzibit's turf?

Good old DK. There's another side to it that people don't always remember.

Dunning Kruger effect is about improper assessment of your own skills. It can breed two different kinds of terrible people

1: the classic example. A player who is terrible but thinks he's great and everyone is just jealous and blah blah blah. What you expect when you hear of Dunning-Kruger.
2: The less well known example: A player who's pretty good, but is so convinced that what he does should be as easy for everyone else as it is for him that he hurls insults at everyone not on his level. This is a less well known manifestation of DK, but you see it ALL THE G TIME on gamer forums.

BTW I already knew everything on that list except the one about becoming unstuck.

Was in my suggested content today, OP, so I watched it - got some good laughs out of it :)

Didn't know the landing gear trick - I actually used it this evening to get myself unstuck [up]

The thesis is impossible, everyone knows that Elite is shallow and lacks content. ;)

Been playing for nearly two years. Been having fun.
I didn't know it was shallow. :S
Does this mean I have been playing the wrong game? :S
Or does it mean (God forbid) that I really do enjoy the game? [yesnod]

Well, #4 is new to me. Though, to be fair, been a few years since I got stuck in any sort of mail slot...

That'll be because you didn't spends $1500 on Slaw pedals, a VKB Gunfighter Pro stick with MCG Pro, and the not yet released Virpil throttle...

I don't mind the XB Controller, actually, but always find it limiting after a *proper* HOTAS. But, for $40.... It's proper bang for buck.

Why do you have access to my YT suggested content?

Back to OP:
#5 - knew it
#4 - knew it
#3 - knew it
#2 - haven't been in a situation that would require such actions - noted for future usage. Let's say it counts :)
#1 - knew it

Overall nice material. Maybe music volume bit too high compared to narrative but it may be me. Watching YT at 6am while preparing for work while still sleeping may cause some issues.

Voice acting is like a cross between Jack Black and Deadpool! Excellent video, both informative AND funny, plus I didn't know number 2!

Never knew about the gear down thing, but then never been stuck. But good to know for future reference. Also, but those using a throttle axis, if you pull the throttle back to where you get the lowest level horizontal blue line, you'll get a stabilized 7 second approach, and leave it there for any interdictions etc.

Brilliant and humerous video! I enjoyed it quite a bit! :)

And I even found myself in the "everybody but you" groupe: I didn't know the landing gear trick! Not that an awesom and experienced pilot like me would get stuck ever ... obviously. :p

The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. Socrates

Didn't know the landing gear trick, too. Maybe because the only time I got stuck, I had forgotten to raise the landing gear.
