Salt Mining Question.

Hi Folks,

We hit on something last Lave Radio episode and wondered if we can pick your brains.Someone made the observation that 'What if, when you are killed then you can use insurance to get your ship back as normal but you don't get your engineer modules back. You have to rebuild your ship back up!' (Don't panic, that's not what I'm asking here). We had a laugh because we were imagining the salt and outrage if that was ever put in. However, when you think about it lore wise, Engineered modules are supposed to custom tweaks beyond the specifications of the standard so the 3D printers or the replacement parts you get shouldn't be able to replicate those changes?

So here's the question we're asking;- Is there something in the game that doesn't seem to make sense to you but you know that it would cause an Mount Everest level of salt if they tried to fix it?

Cheers

P.S. This question is brought to you by the Southern Continent On Lave which is suffering its harshest ever winter. We need the salt to keep the roads clear. :p

If we can telepresence to our ships, and our crew can telepresence to our ships inorder to fly the SLF, why can't we telepresence to any ship in any shipyard and remote fly our ships back to current ship yard?

There's quite a few oddball things.

NPC Crews... you undock without one and dock 22000LY away again... and your NPC Crew is right there for you. How did it get there?
(imagine having to hire a Passenger Transfer then and i.e. wait 61hrs until your Crew arrives at Colonia ;) )

Thrusters... the magic 5m/sec minimal acceleration that allows to land even on an 11g Planet...
(imagine having a clear g limit on all Thrusters and their Engineering state and current Ship gross weight.... ;) )

Most things can be argued from multiple viewpoints, and most would cause outrage. As you are about to find out. Again ;)

Stars having an effect on your frameshift proportional to their mass? Its like they're massless.. giving what a tiny moon can do to you.

We were brainstorming enginners one day.. yeah losing your modules would be fun for a 110% version.. ie make a new grade, grade 6, that boosts even more but is lost on death because its so extreme. Those kinds of cost benefits that make sense logically to players are so rare. Its like we're simply being subjected to conditions they have deem appropriate for player engagement targets... :p

when you enter your SRV, you appear to stand up from your ship's seat and then sit down in your SRV. It has a seat and it has controls. When other players see you in your SRV, they see you. It's like you're really actually there. So why don't you die when your SRV gets destroyed? If it really is only "tele-presence", why is there a seat, controls, why can others see you, and why do you appear to stand up when you return to your ship?

  • Being able to work for and climb the ranks in opposing factions at the same time.
  • Poweplay factions accepting you back even though you're betrayed them countless times in the past.
  • Being caught with illegal contraband approaching a station, but still being allowed to dock and keep the illegal contraband...

I remember in Frontier Elite your ships had the thruster strength measured in g. If you tried to land on a planet with more gravity than your thrusters, well, good bye ship.

Pretty sure the slf pilot is on your ship when they telepresence to the slf. Otherwise how would they die when you go boom? Also why couldnt you equip them from anywhere in the galaxy? They just prefer the crew quarters apparently and are as antisocial as the rest of us.

My problem is, why doesnt the slf pilot sit in the dang cockpit with me?

If i have multiple slfs and the ability to hire multiple slf crew why can i not deploy multiple slf using said multiple crew?

It's called "holo-me" for a reason. That's a holographic projection of you.

Man, do you all lack imagination to the point your parents had to tell you the stories you had to play with your legos?

Nope, it's actually you in the SRV.
Telepresence was introduced with the Fighters - using the turret utilises a "neural link" system though. But from the release of SRV's, it's always been the case that you are actually in the SRV.
