7A Tritium Scoop please FDev

I'm not sure how long it will take to sort out the difference between Mning for Cash and Mining for Fuel, I'm not sure if it ever will resolved.
Options
Tritium Scoop for scooping from Stars, maybe use one of the L Class to mix things up (Not you can't sell it)
Maybe call it TritiumA I dunno

But we are going round in circles here, make the carriers more economical - 40 Tones per jump, lower the price to ofset mining for cash.

But please think ouside of this mining thing. Open to other suggestions but this could roll on forever unless something fundamental is changed

Also, maybe ask us for feedback BEFORE you try again to fix fueling Carriers? :unsure:

It occured to me readding your post, that FD may believe they have fixed the refuelling of FCs, tis why they are keeping quiet.

I wonder perhaps if they are trying to move to back to resourcing a squadron FC jumpin once a week, only occassional more?

Rubbernuke has a good suggestion along these lines but better thought out. See if you can find his post, it's quite interesting.

Posted this a while back. out in the black it’s very singular acquiring tritium. More methods would be “more fun”

Basically it was that all ships can run on H2 as now, including carriers and H3 which also gives them a range boost and engine damage as well. Then you would use a modified fuel scoop to get H2 as normal except that it would fill your cargo instead of your fuel tanks and you would then donate that file in the way that you do H3 now.

Rubbernuke explained it lot better, I'l see if I can find a link to his post.

I had a couple:

1: Make FCs and ships dual fuel capable- i.e. both use bog standard hydrogen but get a massive boost from tritium (which is rare and expensive)

2: Have scoops that automatically recharge H3 when parked around certain bodies

3: Make the tanker megaships have H3 so you can nick it

The first one was the one that I was referring too, but to be fair, they are all good.
 
Yeah 1. is good

I could live with that but it might be tricky mixing the two - if Tritium burned more efficent per jump and H3 gave what Tritium does now I guess

Yes, the fuel mix might be a tricky one but you could also just say that if there is a fuel mix, then the lower fuel is used for the jump calculations. Or H3 becomes H2 if mixed with H2.
 
Or allow us to buy direct from a nearby market to our FC(either delivered magically or by NPCs)
With one rule : This Trit cannot be sold or transferred,its only use is as FC fuel.

The other I forgot about was making synth like recipes based on stuff to hand- so you can have a list of brews that might jump further, be less damaging on your FC, easier to obtain etc. That way H3 does not need to be mined in huge amounts.

That too, but it doesn't help those way out from the bubble, which is the main issue right nw.

That's a good option also. Would that be the carrier doing the synth or ships?

That would be a neat thing, if tritium was scooped from different star types. Brown dwarfs etc.
 
In my head scooping would be from suitable stars but also gas giants.

Another version was that you employ mining crews who mine bodies for H3- on system maps each body has an H3 value.

In either case at a functional level its a recharge timer based on local H3 abundance- I mean, you pay upkeep, so the FC should run itself really and not be a fussy eater.
 
Realistically though, it's pretty clear that only 1 or 2 devs are keeping the lights on. So any new stuff will probably be a non starter.

The quick fix for Fdev is to just edit formula that boosts or nerfs. So I still think the solution would be to reduce the fuel needed to jump, a lot. maybe even 20 tons per jump.

It's one formula to edit, unlike the mutible and complex formulas around mining, which currently is just a total mess. After all this tweeking it must look like spaghetti !
