Especially when mining, the commodities ignore list is really handy and well implemented: When a particular commodity is in the ignore list, collector limpets will ignore it and the refinery module will just discard it even if brought to it. (This can happen when there's a fragment that has two different metals/minerals, one that's ignored and the other that isn't: The limpet will collect it because of the unignored material, but only that one will be processed by the refinery module, the other one will be automatically discarded.)
What's a really useful and well implemented mechanic, however, is greatly marred by a glaring lack of any sort of management menu for ignored commodities. For starters, if you want to add a commodity to the ignore list, and you have collector limpets launched, you essentially need to race against your own limpets to add the commodity to the ignore list from the contacts menu before your limpet brings it to your ship. This can be particularly difficult and frustrating given that the contacts list is constantly changing and rearranging if there are collector limpets flying around collecting stuff. This isn't very much fun nor is it very practical.
Secondly, and one of the most requested features: There's no way to remove a commodity from the ignore list unless it appears in your contacts list. Nor is there any way to just clear the entire list in one swoop.
What the game needs is a commodities ignore list management menu, at least when it comes to metals and minerals (ie the stuff that the refinery can process). Maybe it could be a "mining" menu, if it's restricted to metals and minerals.
A good place for it would be eg. a sub-tab in the "inventory" tab of the ship's right panel: This management sub-menu would list all the metals/minerals that you have encountered, and would allow setting or unsetting an "ignored" flag. There should also be a "clear all" button. In fact, optimally, it would show the current average market value of each commodity to make it easier to make the decisions (when you have the commodity in your inventory it already shows that number, so it shouldn't be a problem).
