A Couple of Shop Suggestions

Well, as mentioned several times on this thread, unless some peep preference balancing (say that three times fast! [big grin]) occurs, there is no point in any of the newer shops mentioned. Vegetarian stands sound great, but like the others except chief beef, They would sit empty, the vendors would quit, and you would have to start all over again. That is NOT management, it's tedium. I have set up other food shops right next to a beef shop, and the line for chief beef is around the block, while the other stands sit empty, yet the peeps all complain how hungry they are. Well, if you are that hungry, buy a french fry, darn it!!!

Now, if they figure out a better balance, I agree with popcorn and candy floss, and would love to see theme balloons, or at least the ability to choose colors, and of course other tchotchkes or souvenirs.

But number one on my list is tables and chairs in sit down restaurants. They could either set it up with a separate shop that sells an entire meal , which the peep carries to the nearest table on a tray and sits and eats, or somehow weighing all the food stalls, and some require sitting down (burgers, sandwiches, ice cream, etc, while the snack stalls, popcorn, candy floss, water et al can be eaten on the go. So if you build a chief beef, you have to provide a few tables for patrons, but a popcorn and water stand would not require tables. That is management, and it would also affect the way the park is laid out.

As for actual Management, I'd think a cool way to do it is let us change and rename the menu items... (With the shop boxes determining what kind of default menu items there are, and their default names...)

Factors I'd like to see simulated in regards to guests and shops?
Food/drink preference and how I'd like it handled: Guests will eat anywhere, and if the shop has their food preference it will give them a boost to their happiness. Guests will also be given food dislikes, which if they can't find a food/drink on the menu that isn't on their dislike list then they loose happiness.(Possibly with a penalty to how much of their hunger need is filled too as they don't eat the whole meal.) Possibly play with the idea of allergies too.(Mostly if a guest eats something they are allergic to, it increases nausea... likely to the point of making them sick on the sidewalk.)

So combine the above with being able to change and rename the base items on the menu(As well as add and subtract items from the menu... More items on the menu makes the food take longer to prepare, and increases the odds of triggering allergies if a guest is allergic to something. (Training of course decreases the odds of triggering an allergy.)
Fewer items means shorter wait times as all the worker needs to do is grab one off the shelf...)

We need these stalls added:
Funnel cakes with a variety of toppings to offer
Roasted corn with options of butter or not and seasonings
Candy apples and cotton candy
Deep fried foods candy bars, onions, pickles
Barbeque pork, turkey legs, bbq stuffed potatoes
Corn dogs, foot long chili dogs added to the hot dog stand

I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but to be honest, we already have more food and drink shops than we need. This is because the peeps don't want a varied diet. They have very strong preferences for just a few types of food and drink, and pretty much hate all the rest. So until that changes, there's no sense in adding more types of shops, or even keeping all the ones we currently have.

That said, there's nothing stopping you from PRETENDING that such shops exist. Inside it might really be a Chief Beef shop box, but you can put theming and signage on the outside indicating it sells otter noses or jaguar earlobes. And unless you zoom in close enough to see what the peeps are really holding in their hands, you'll never know the difference.

Hmmm... That might actually be the solution to the current problem of peep preferences. Eliminate all the different types of food and drink shop boxes. Just have 1 generic food box and 1 generic drink box. Peeps leaving the shops would carry just 1 generic food or drink object, or a random selection from the many we already have. But provide signage for every type of food and drink imaginable, so we can fool ourselves into thinking we're providing a varied diet.

I know this post is old, but I must say I agree completely with it. Not only about shops, but about the rest of the content. This game should re-balance certain mechanics first, then add more content like that. Adding more variety is nice, but it won´t rly make the game better in any way, right? Would be basically just re-skin with no gameplay impact.
