I want a rift so much..:(

i'm 48.. i have a full CH HOTAS paired with Voice attack, a GTX 970 and a Track Ir5 . but i decided to wait for the CV1 Rift.. while i may still be able to hold onto my jaw at the moment, i look forward to the day i can cause it to hit the floor.

I have a question for all you DK2 "developers" out there. Do any of you have three screens connected to the same computer you have the DK2 connected to? If so, please tell me the loading process you use. Since Beta 2 started, I have been unable to get my DK2 to be seen. It isn't even the the beta's selectable menu any longer. I was there in Beta 1...

I'm not 43 and don't have a DK2 but I feel your joy :D

I will however be buying a CV1 & a kick-@ss computer when it releases.

I look on it as keeping onto my OR virginity until that perfect marriage of ED/DK2/Supa-dupa PC comes to fruition.

Until then I regard all you DK2 owners playing ED as sinful, cheap tarts... :D

This made me chuckle :)

So many dirty jokes spring to mind, I shall show some of the restraint that I sorely lacked when my cursor was hovering over the buy button on the oculus store page :)

We bit over 43, and I have hovered over that buy button for the DK2 ALOT. This has made me hover over it again :D

Oh and for Pappy55UK, I stopped getting presents when I was about 11. Thats why now I just buy my own. Everyday can be a Birthday for me LOL Here is a Hug though (Hugz)

I happen to have three screens and a DK2 on my PC, however I disable two of them in nvcp when using the rift.

In Beta 1, I had the issue that ED wouldn't allow me to select tertiary or quaternary displays and I couldn't be bothered to edit the registry to always have the rift be designated as secondary.

Got all screens to work with the rift, but it always was a bit fickly and nv surround spanning is incompatible with the rift as of now.

Or we are the ones who went home with the pretty looking girl from the nightclub whilst you went home alone after a night of soulful glances towards the stunning local beauty.

Just convince her that once you buy your rift you will be able to visit anywhere in vr for free in stunning realistic 3d.

This will of course be a lie but by the time she realises you will have your rift! Also when she divorces you because you lied and didnt take her to st tropez you will have even more time to spend in the rift!!! Always a silver lining :)

If they do St Tropez in Euro Truck Simulator maybe you could get the DK2 and let her play with that. Sure she'd be thrilled.

I'm enjoying this thread. Us 43 year-olds may all be having a midlife crisis?

I thought I had mine a couple of years ago when I gave in to my other passion of Star Wars and Stormtroopers in particular. I have the helmet, a Shadow Trooper helmet and another custom job on order, the blaster, saving for a full set of wearable armour, a dozen Sideshow 12" collectibles and a legion of Star Wars minifig troopers.. ;)

At least my wife reckons it's a better midlife crisis than buying a little red sports car.

Nightclub? What's that? I was far too busy geeking out at home playing games for any of that silliness.

Luckily when I was young the pull of the local beauties far outweighed that of the early computers, so I had more than my fair share of lovely ladies.

I was also lucky in that before I reached the stage of being the oldest swinger in town I settled down with the best of them, had three kids in three years and realised my earlier passion for simulations which sort of fits in with a 'constrained' social life courtesy of said kids.

My wife thinks I'm barking with all the toys I have in my study, I just chuckle and wait for the day when I can plug in a CV1, stick it on her and fire up whatever the scariest demo is at the time...:D

All you antiques and your old people's goggles.... Us 38 year olds fly in glorious 1440p with a head tracker.

No patience, the elderly of today..... Buying shonky developer editions of stuff. Pffft.

(Says I, fiercely resisting buying a DK2)

I don't have an Eagle, or an Oculus Rift, I'm not 43 and I'm NOT JEALOUS, NO NOT EVEN ONE LITTLE BIT.

That's what i keep telling myself like a mantra:
I'm not jealous, no not even one little bit.
I'm not jealous, no not even one little bit.
I'm not jealous, no not even one little bit.
I'm not jealous, no not even one little bit.
I'm not jealous, no not even one little bit.

Does not work out at all.

I'm 47 now and i know what you mean all to well, 'cause i'm right in a midlife crisis, too.
What really troubles me is that it began about the time when i turned 30.

I have a dk2, great rig etc, 44 (I moisturise daily so look wonderful for my age, cough)

Anyway, today being the day I have lots of time to enjoy the views the Eagle graces us with, my family have decided to have an "out to dinner day" .

I won't have starter or pudding - just going to drink my dinner fast, lie to everyone about feeling ill and needing to get home immediately.

They'll have 12 minutes too sit, eat, leave and get me home.

Magic times.

I believe I am LITERALLY the only DK2 owner who prefers to play without it. I can't stand the poor resolution of the Rift - everything looks so pixelated, such as other ships and text. I played with it for a couple of days when I first got it, but it's been back in the box since then.

Have you tried oversampling? I find that setting the rift to 2560x1440 greatly improves the quality, especially text. You'll probably have to lower the shadows setting to low though to avoid juddering in stations, but in space it's smooth as silk.

I'm on a i7 4770 and GTX770 for reference.
