A-E modules and Integrity? Was not "B" modules supposed to be the most sturdy?

My D Class power plant has all the power I need on my Space Taxi (with a 6A scoop). I have no weapons at all...

Rather than a D rated pp I find it better to go to the smaller A rated.

5D to 4A is 3t lighter and gives fractionally more power with the benefit of the better heat efficiency of the A rated plants.

but didn't he fit the A-Rated scoop already for the reason that he can avoid going deeper into the corona and avoide the heatstroke that way? :D

man, this is going circles.
the point is, all those modules from A-E have a reason to exist, maybe not for yourself, but for someone else they may fit exactly into his outfitting strategy.
and what some may forget - the essence of a game with modular outfitting, is NOT to find THE one perfect fit that everyone will use - its about finding the best combination that fits YOUR playstyle.

Smaller A rated is still lighter, usually main reason for going with D rated, and with more power than the larger D. Was just giving some friendly advice on a better option.

That+1. If it was like +100% base integrity for 40% more weight it would be fine. But as it stands it's just meh.
D rated is cool and usefull (in general). I would love to see C/B/E classes keep their usefullness at least in some cases.

Here is what I would do :

  • E : lower power use (50% of D class), normal mass, +40% base integrity.
  • D : As is now
  • C : +40% base integrity
  • B : +100% base integrity, +40% weight.
  • A : As is now

One thing I despise is FSD's : the only case I know of where one would like to not use A rated of the highest class is with the iCourrier where a G5 long range D class is essentially a lightweight vanilla A class.
Maybe do something about the fuel use, boot time, etc... depending on the grade.

Fuel use is different for some grades
B and A can use more fuel per jump than E to C

I've never understood why the Integrity Bonus was so microscopic compared to the huge Mass Penalty. Doesn't seem worth it.

Well one of the devs let us know that thrusters for instance have 3 separate bonuses, speed, accel and angular rate, the single figure shown is the average of them.

Hence potentially the heavier B grade could have given better acceleration or roll rate rather than the straight line speed of the A module. Something more militarily useful.

So I built an all B rated Cobra to see if I could determine any difference and.... it was just worse than the A grade. So utterly pointless. Or rather if there are differences they are so miniscule as to be unobservable.

It's as though an interesting and unique system was designed by one dev and then someone hired from farmtown came in and scribbled 'just make them grind to A grade' all over it. Which is a shame.
