It'd be fun if at select starports (perhaps found in a few Anarchy systems?) there was an Elite themed card game that players can play against each other for in-game currency.
We'd get a chance to show off our Holo-Mes (still sitting down in a chair at a game table, no less), get more multiplayer interaction, hotspots for games develop, and then perhaps the card game becomes as popular as Gwent and gets its own spin-off.
Showing off our clothing packs and whatnot in turn increases sales to Frontier's cosmetics store as players see what someone else has and go "hey that looks purty good", we'd get to feel like we're hanging out in hives of scum and villainy, and whoever is the lucky boy or girl for the night can walk away a winner.
To join a game, you'd arrive at the station, go to the Contacts menu, and click "Elite-themed card game which is way fun and everyone loves". Then the screen fades to black and fades in at a card table with however-many-different CMDRs and NPCs. It'd be fun if we had to become an Ally with the controlling Anarchy faction to learn the "password" to the game, but whatever Frontier wants to do is fine. It may be best to only have 1 to 3 active game locations going so that the players will have an easier time playing against real people (and if it catches on more locations can spawn, or if a non-Anarchy faction takes over the station then the authorities shut the game down so it pops up elsewhere-- details to be figured out later, of course).
I think it'd be interesting if you could gamble more than just in-game cash, but anything works really, and I understand the possible need for caps on each "hand" to avoid someone intentionally gambling away a fortune to a n00b. Materials could be gambled alongside the money, for example, with the spawn rates determining the value.
The game could even just be poker, with the decks themed with the Powerplay NPC folks.
