A History of Minor Powers - Contributions Requested!

Greetings commanders. My name is Cmdr. Winston Jung, and my passion is history. Sadly, we live in an era where few historians abound - people would rather live in the present these days than the past or future. I seek, in my own way, to do what I can to remedy this. And what better way to rekindle interest in history is there than resorting to tribalism and pandering the exotic, unknown frontiers!

I am currently in the process of researching various small governments that have grown in prominence drastically since the turn of the 34th century. Since the rise of the Alliance and a bi-polar political landscape transforming into a tri-polar one, individual pilots and groups thereof have started to become more and more important in the geopolitics of the bubble. Inside the major governments or in independent space, states that have managed to use pilots to advance their own agendas have grown drastically in power. The example that springs to the minds of most is the Crimson State Group of Lugh, who managed to successfully secede from the Federation through military force thanks to the efforts of numerous mercenaries, adventurers and volunteers. However, Lugh is just one of many such factions. Alarmingly, very little is know to the average inhabitant of the bubble about this unprecedented historical phenomenon. We're entering a new age of history, one where the success of a state is defined by the actions of elites unbound to any region or government except voluntarily more than it is anything else, yet nobody seems to realize it!

I'm currently in the process of studying the various powers who have successfully utilized pilots for their own gain. However, the dearth of published information is hindering me in this effort. I'd like to appeal to all of you who witnessed the events I'm studying to drop me a line and give first-hand accounts as to what you did, how it changed local space, and what kind of relationship you have with those responsible. In return, I can promise you an unbiased collection of such accounts and hopefully a subsequent rise in awareness as to the struggles shaping the future of inhabited space.

Thank you and fly safe;
- CMDR Winston Jung

Hi Commander, I once tried to collect lore from other groups for similar aims. I like this endeavour and will compile what I have and see about adding it to your thread. How would you like it presented? Just bullet points or a written history?

Bullet points are fine - the most important thing to me is the dates. Establishing a chronology is pretty difficult, but if we can do it at least roughly it will make integrating the various narratives floating around there easier to integrate.
