A horrible realization: Goodbye my dear Cobra!

The t6 is an awesome little work horse. Really enjoyed using it. The only time I ever died was when I accidentally performed a high-speed belly flop into one of those floating gun emplacements by outposts. It's a shame the keelback isn't to the t6 what the adder is to the hauler- now that would be one hell of a ship.

I think the ship-launched fighter is supposed to be what adds that extra bit. We'll see in about a month when beta hits (or sooner? it's a big patch...)

The T6 isn't fast enough to evade unwanted combat. You may be going the pacifist route but the NPCs that will interdict you are not.

Other than that I got nothing against the T6 except that the Cobra III looks better, has a better looking cockpit and is much more agile - it's the Millenium Falcon of ED :D
Depends. T6 is pretty fast and if OP has access to engineers it will be fast enough to leave any NPC in the dust. I've gone the opposite rout and have a wide array of ships. T6 is one of the greats.
This is my post engineering one:

Most things silly enough to try and follow it die.

The T6 can evade almost anything, as long as it's only one opponent. In most situations it will be okay.

Orca eh?
Not sure what I was thinking but holy moly is it expensive. Bless the author of the Corolis site.

20% off Orca (and AspE, for that matter) at Irkutsk if you get the Alioth permit.

Personally, I can't stand the look of Orcas. Big Cobra and Asp fan; both are fun ships. I've actually never flown the T6, but I really despised the T7, as unwittingly I bought it and flew it after the AI upgrade...and it was immediately toasted. I mined my way from a Cobra into an Asp and beyond; it really didn't take that long.

T6 is nothing like the T7. I've flown both. The T7 is a big, big coffin.

New'ish career. Going with owning only one ship at a time. And no combat - at least for as long as I can.

When I started this adventure of only having one ship at a time I naturally presumed that I would be going the Sidewinder to Cobra MkIII to AspE to Python route. All great multi-purpose ships capable of doing it all. Perfect for a single ship career!

Currently in the Cobra Mk III, one of my favorite ships from way back in '85 however...

I have been to Corolis working on Mk III builds for mining, missions, smuggling, and trading and (remember the one ship career) have found that, once you remove combat from the ship creation equation, the ole Mk III is just okay for the above jobs but another fav - the T6 - appears to be quite a bit more capable in non-combat ED gaming.

I really, really like the T6 but...c'mon...it's the Cobra! Everyone's "go to" ship!
Anyone have any thoughts about things I may be missing before I hit the Shipyard next boot-up?

I am outraged by this!

A T6 to replace a Cobra MKIII? What madness is this I see on a Saturday morning? Did the Thargoids invade and mess with your mind man?

I just shudder at the thought of leaving the greatest space ship the universe has ever known for a brick. :D

Hehe...yes indeed the Cobra is a great ship and, IIRC, your only ship.
It is certainly a tough call - luckily I really like the T6 also or there would be no conversation.
I try to be practical though and, in my current career play style (no/avoiding combat), the T6 just makes much more sense.

And I don't think I am a victim of Thargoid mind- control but, if I was, would I know it?

And, when they arrive, I may need the speed and combat edge the Cobra brings so I may be back anyway sir!
