Current Preparation.

Looks like Yab Camalo might be stuck in there.

I don't know how much of that is purposeful undermining, its a system that is making players good money to trade there.
Maybe its in our interest to look for a close system that gives us 50+ CC (nothing special, but could be much worse) that will make good money trading from our closest control system.
If players are going to do this, we might as well try to somewhat steer it to a location that is better.

I assume thats what been keeping people going there. Good place to remember if you want to do some trading (but we are the bounty hunting Power ), but don't drop off preparation reports here!

Its currently on 11415, so there is a 4000 buffer between it and our top 10 list.

Here is the current state between ALD and AD (you had to give both of them a first name starting with the same letter FD?)

I wont write too much, public forum and all.
Same view of the map using both their view, top, and our view, bottom.
Its a 2D version of our 3D map, so you really need to go have a look in game and rotate around.

Their expansions are in pink, ours are in yellow.
Cartoi will become a control system for them. Its closer to us than them.
Belluang will be prepared for them. Its much closer to us than them.

We will prep Gui Xian and Ngarawe.

This leaves 2 areas (both closer to us again) circled in red.
Kalivunian (which we have tried to get on our top 10 list right now),
And Tujing / Penapasoak. These 2 dont over lap but are close enough to not be worth getting both. One is agri tourism, the other is extraction industrial.
I might go out there to see what ships they sell, there isn't that much different between them, both ok.

We will take Vaka, its so far away it isn't even in the picture.
He will take Wangal, which is the same distance from his capital as it is to ours (55 LY)

At this stage he will take Bang, and we have 4 systems we will prep or take control of which are around Wangal.

There will be two green areas between us at the start of the next cycle, the smaller red circle is much lower down the map, under both our territories.
Caria is probably the best system down there for us, its worth 87CC and is Patronage.

Torval seems to be expanding in an arc around Patreus, squeezing him out of any systems above him.

I agree, we should definitely shore up those bottom two. We don't want Paraesii, or anything else unexpected creeping up on us.

After my experiences yesterday encountering CMDRs out at Yab Camalo & Guathiti, I think a major factor in those systems continuing to receive Reports, was simply CMDRs thinking they were doing good, just because those Systems are ranked. They're getting supplied merely because they appear on the List in-game...

Last week was a panic. Some of us had drawn up a Preparation Shortlist already by Wednesday, but there was anxiety about broadcasting the targets publicly, wanting to avoid another Cartoi situation, or giving our rivals a clue as to our plans. With hindsight this may have been a mistake.

I'm now inclined to think that a better approach may be for us all to openly determine our Preparation Candidates together, in the day/s immediately before the new cycle begins.

Then, we can organise for Loyalists to position themselves at Control Systems nearest to our new Candidates, in readiness to immediately and collectively haul enough Corruption Reports (1000+) in the opening hours (preferably minutes), of the new cycle to force them all into Ranking simultaneously.

Agreed. I think there's little benefit in secrecy right now, and it's certainly outweighed by having the right systems on the list early on in the next cycle.

2 days and 1500 merits later I'm done for this week and undermining. I think reaching tier 4 is good enough. Plus I'm tired of being smack in the middle of fed territory so I'm heading back for our space to start hauling cargo again. Mission accomplished for me.

Agreed. I think there's little benefit in secrecy right now, and it's certainly outweighed by having the right systems on the list early on in the next cycle.

I agree. There is very little the other powers can do with a few days notice on our possible targets. They will see where we are going on Thursday anyway.

Something does need to be sorted out for more private communication, but right now its hard enough to get any communication for the vast majority of our members using public channels. Any hiding of communication might make things worse.

It feels like we are fighting our own members preparation efforts more than opposition from other Powers.

Yeah thats a good idea.
I went through 4 systems to see what their commodity market was offering, since there was very little difference between them. They had similar location, CC and large stations.

That thread is just as much a mess as this one. It really depends on which format your mind is best at reading. (Hell, a new guy just showed up and two posts below an updated image of the Top 10, and endorsements of pushing the bottom two, asks which systems to push.)

The goal of the Reddit post is to proposition systems with an image of what their sphere of influence includes, and create a 'response thread' for each System. Following each response thread with a scouting report would go a long way to help that discussion. It also opens the door for people not me to reply with a new suggestion. And it does so by creating individual response threads that can be up or down voted for more visibility. That is the point of using reddit for that post. A forum post like this one will wind up having 34 pages of which no one reads just to get a list of ten systems. It's no wonder most people simply send reports to the Top 10 list in the game.

Now, that said, if I have the Preparation reddit post ready by 6am BST, everyone then has 24 hours or more to research and discuss those systems before the cycle flips. And if we have an "approved endorsement" list ready by the time the cycle flips, we should hopefully be well on our way to having 10 systems we want Prepped making the Top 10. And it might be easier to identify the "5th column" activities.

The sad fact is that if we announce 16 possible systems 24 hours before the cycle flips, it will be possible for another Power to bum rush one of them and add it to their expansion list for the next cycle. And, honestly? Let them do it. We have the numbers to oppose an expansion, and I don't think we'll be putting other people's Prep lists' "red systems" on ours. We will, eventually, but I think we're good this cycle.

One more thing to add, jgm, I really will not be handling all the research for those Prep systems on my own. I basically just collate and take a photo of the Map. Those who do the research can reply to the "reply thread" I establish. I mean, we should have 24 hours to do that research.

Nice, that puts our 10th place at 5 thousand above, based on the last list I saw.

So, I think we can claim, with no certainty whatsoever, that if there is 5th column activity, it happens within the first day, and players simply push the systems that are on the Top 10 even harder. Good to know for future strategy.
