Great guide: A few things.

Can't you just edit the added part of the guide into the original post?

And you got a little inconsistent with you use of subject dividers, in one instance, you start with A, B (Alpha Dividers) then 3, 4, 5(Numeric) for the same section.

A little bit of bold letters, or colored letters for subject dividers will turn this from a great guide into a pretty one.

You already put a ton of work into though, so this is nothing but nitpicking. Great job.

Outstanding, informantive ! +1 isnt enough.

I am glad that it was helpful to You. As You experiment with Powerplay, please let me know if You find anything new that You think should be added, or any corrections.

I do need to work this into a 3.0 version fairly soon, so all the feedback is helpful. Thanks Kantei. :)

It sounds to me that the most profitable thing (with the least amount of hassle) you can do at the moment to exploit your politics preferences is to rank in and out of rank 5. Without doing the actual hard work of maintaining rank 5. This way, each 2 other weeks you earn 55 mil and if you have that much time to spend as to maintain rank 5, now you'll have more of it doing other profitable things or things you enjoy. I reckon you'd spend 5-6 mil per week doing what you need to do and 4-5 mil more in re-supplying and repairing and paying those insurance fees considering accidents may happen during all this effort and they will be costly. If in 1 week you have less time, you default to doing the minimum amount of work needed for rank 4. As such, you can profit 45 mil credits every 2 weeks, it's not bad at all. But it is still a lot of grind. All for a good cause, of course.

I am currently pledged to Aisling Duval and have a pretty good understanding of how, where and why to drop of Culture Shocks, Media Blitz and Asset Grabs. What I haven't been able to figure out is how and where would I figure out where I need to go to fight with other ships from other factions to accrue the 5 to 10 Merits per ship killed. Can one of you great Commanders point me in the right direction?
I'm pledge to Aisling also. I have a couple systems bookmarked where interdicting and killing enemy factions gets you 30 merits per kill. The key is to go to systems in anarchy but controlled by one of the powers that can be undermined by blowing up their ships. anarchy systems are good because you don't have to worry about system police dropping out of super cruise and killing you (because now you have a bounty) while you're killing your target. I'll send you a PM with the list of systems I like to go.

PS - don't interdict Imperial ships pledged to someone other than Aisling. You will lose merits.

That was the longest 'lazy guide' ever, I've seen many subs touted as detailed & indepth that were half as long. But nonetheless great work op!

edit, lol the necro is strong on this subforum of late

Yeah but this thread is a true diamond.

I was glad to see it back.

I'm not lazy, I've just never had any interest in Powerplay but finally pledged to Torval because I want the Mining Lances. No idea what to do. It doesn't say anywhere in the game or on the web what to actually do. And neither does this guide. I stopped reading after: 'You get 10 PCAs every half-hour.' No I don't. What's a PCA anyway?

I don't care how PP is supposed to work. I just want instruction. Go into this menu. Select that tab. Go there. Look for this. Pick up that. Take it there. Go there. Shoot that. Pick up your Mining Lance. But... nothing. Just tldr.

But if this guide is lame, it's not nearly as lame as Frontier for producing this rubbish and not even publishing any instructions for it. What a complete waste of time.

Too lazy to actually read the post you are complaining about apparently.

He explains what PCA's are, and goes into a lot of detail about powerplay.

Your sense of entitlement is quite astounding.

You are just after a basic guide on how to get a powerplay weapon without actually playing powerplay as it was intended - whereas this guide was written for those that actually wanted to take part in powerplay.

Maybe look for a YouTube video on how to do what you seem to be struggling with, I am sure there are loads.

Edit: to be clear this was meant to be a reply to the post a couple above mine.. Must've hit the wrong tiny little icon on the mobile view!

With all due respect, you're playing the wrong game.

The OP was last edited in 2015. Can someone who's familiar with PowerPlay comment on whether that stuff is still sufficiently accurate to be worthy of directing people to via my sticky "Best of Forum" thread? (or perhaps there's a newer more up to date guide somewhere?).

If you click the 'Why should I bother to work for' links, you'll see the work that Kaze put into the thread. It's quite incredible, really. Most, if not all, is still accurate

Totally agree, don't think I had ever seen such detailed info put together by a player of a game before, that's why Cmdr Diffins post riled me somewhat!
