A Lesson learned the hard way

Around 10 days ago I accepted a mission to head out to 'The Mighty' (9.9G planet around 24 KLy away).
Speed not a concern, but didn't like being scanned.
Reached the beacon, but it was busy and of course we were scanned ... [knocked out]
I was given 29 min to find a station (nearest at Colonia around 3+ KLy).
Not surprisingly didn't make it so 7 passengers ejected (good luck to them!) and I lose my 42M fee.
I will have a fair bit of scanning data, but I would run them down if the escape pods had appeared!

Sorry to hear about the mission. I took a touristy mission only once and it was around 6 Kylies from the bubble. It felt like I was doing a job instead of having fun with exploration. So I never did it again. I'd rather go where I fancy. With the way I scan it's enough credits to get me going but I'm not doing it for the credits.

Yes - never again! I have reached 'enough' credits really - how many ships can I fly?

When I set out exploring in my 12 million rebuy Anaconda, I had 100 million credits. My trip to reach Elite in exploration netted me another 100 million in credits. Immediately after reaching Elite, I set out again and now I am at the rim of the galaxy and staying there for the foreseeable future.

I still have 200 million credits. If 200 million credits is considered "rich" then I plead guilty. Taking into account that an A-rated Anaconda can cost over 500 million credits excluding rebuys, that amount affords me nothing. If I wanted to get rich then I'd take the "Zero to Hero" exploration guide which would net me 1 billion without leaving the vicinity of the bubble and then I'd also go and become level 5 with Lin Yong-Rui to double that amount upon selling it.

And yet I'm not doing that. What I want to do is explore.

I'm not doing this for the credits.

Trust me, im nowhere near elite. Not even dangerous in any of my skills. But i remember about three months back i was sitting on 16 million credits, and my ships limited me to certain mission, because of cargo space, too small for elimination missions (my vulture cant do it all), i realized i need bigger ships. Even when i ranked up to afford the FAS, i still couldnt buy it because i wouldnt have enough for buyback. So, yes i needed money. Started passenger missions, and bigger paying surface scan missions, especially at quince. Those were my biggest payouts. Im currently sitting at 100mil. but i still need money. I want the FDL, yes i can afford it, but to trick it out how i want it, and still have buyback, i need another 30-40 mil. My vulture is only worth 4mil, might as well keep that.
I am having fun with the game. When i get back from this passenger mission, and cash in, im going to get my pew pew on in a REZ to release some steam.
